We are a community – making writing sites better!

What is a community? It is a group of people that, in finding themselves together, find ways to work together. They, members of a community band together. They, members of the community, never make you feel like you don’t belong. Everyone in the end belongs and contributes. If you don’t help, then it is time to move to a new community that better fits what you need. It is a two-way conversation. I discussed the comments with another author here, and we came to the consensus that the most accessible communication is the one where you benefit. The other person in the conversation also helps—the concept of mutual or mutualism where both entities benefit.

So let’s start with this. Nobody should ever send you a message that says you didn’t comment on my post. It is ok to send a note saying hey, you may like this post. But the second does not expect a tit for tat system. Many people on the site follow the if you don’t comment on my posts I don’t comment on your posts, and that is fine. The reverse, I said more on your posts than you comment on mine, isn’t approaches. Communities work together and help each other. Based on the reality of what a city could be, I would like to point out that conversations are now more valuable than comments. A conversation results when two people exchange ideas. Those ideas may not be the consensus.

(if someone sends you a PM saying you don’t comment on my stuff, please forward that to the admin team at Support@virily.com. Let them know!)

But there is a discourse based on the post of a person. Multiple parts that go back and forth. Over the years here on this site, I have had many wonderful conversations. I have built friendships with some of the authors here. I know I gain so much from our community. I want to give back, as do so many others. Based on the feedback we gave the admin team a month, and three days ago, some of the changes we’ve asked for have happened. If you haven’t had a chance to vote, check out the post on improving the site! You can’t downvote comments anymore (sadly, I was 20 downvotes away from getting a second technology toy! Arrgh), and we can hope that our other requested changes will happen.

When we work together, we can overcome everything!

Thank you to everyone in the community!

  1. I am so sorry about the down vote button, I knew you were close to getting that new toy. 😉 Actually, I am glad they finally took that away, I was upset when the put that button on here. I knew it would cause conflict and its just a bad idea. When we post, we put our hearts and minds into it. It takes time and effort. No one should be down voted for that. What ever happened to the golden rule…

  3. I had to come back to this post, Doc. The strangest thing just happened dear Ghostwriter wrote me a reply on one of my posts and I got the notification. Then the notification on the same reply came in a total of 6 times. I had never seen that happen before.

  4. The community is there to help each other. We cannot be individualists in a community. No one forced us into this community, we decided for ourselves. If someone doesn’t like it, he can always leave it.

    • as someone that has run sites like this in the past. I can tell you that administrivia goes way down if you communicate with the users!

      set rules
then all you are is the enforcer. You don’t have to fix issues!

    • But the issue of not having set rules worries me. We have users that commented for Virils (commenting on 30 or 40 posts, and responding to one of two author replies). Based on that the admins changed the site to be more conversation focused.

I worry that bad behavior consistently causes problems for all of us.

  5. We really need to help each other here if we plan on earning, if someone is here just for fun then its okay.
I have heard from another member about the Pm asking the member to comment on their posts, but that was a year ago.
