There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition to get the creative juices flowing, as long as it doesn’t become a clinical compulsion, like OCD. Thankfully, none of Virily’s writers have this condition.
I’m not here about the above statement, not directly, anyway, I’m here to share some really good information, which some veterans may not know, since very few post videos on Virily. Some genuinely don’t know how to put a video on a Poll page, others may know exactly how but don’t feel the need for a video and that is cool.
I’m sharing a word of caution, regarding the embed app specifically built for videos. Well, two things about the app I need to share urgently which are these:
1. If you post a video from Vivo, (perhaps there are other formats as well??) while the picture quality is fine, there is no sound on my audio, (TESTED USING OWN DOWNLOADED VIDEOS)
I will try the YouTube format and report back if they are fine.
2. Don’t upload any video you are not 100% happy with because unlike the Polls app, the embed app does not offer the edit option, beware!
NOTE: Seen in the light of Admin’s reluctance in responding for whatever reason I decided to share this information.
FOOTNOTE: Should you have wanted to make use of the embed app entirely, in your clamoring for the number one spot, currently occupied by Carol DM, on the trending list, DON’T use the embed app. Rather opt for images of exotic fruit, vegetables, flowers, ornate garden-gates, different posing cats, dogs and birds taken from various vantage points, etc. all of which can be posted on the Polls app which allows editing.

Just recently I posted a YouTube vid. Very happy at the time when I did, it didn’t take long for the YouTube poster to take it down.
Very interesting points! I feel that fewer people will click on a link to watch a video than if it’s embeded in the post.
The video links are clickable but I had a few complaints that there was no sound posting them in polls. I will try it again.
Videos from some platforms start with muted sound by default; but I have also had the sound problem with YouTube before and the problem was my computer.
In the Poll section I just post a youtube link just as I have done in one of my recent posts and it is clickable. Embedding is done at other sections such as Story
I usually copy the URL of a YouTube video, then head to create section of Virily and click on embed and voila, it is uploaded automatically. Easy way to post a video.
It is easy enough, agreed, but there was no sound coming from a VIVO video and when you want to edit it in the embed app, you do not get the option, Carol DM confirmed this.
Yes, with embed it is not possible to edit or delete even when it is in draft.
What I do is I go to YouTube and find the video I want. Then I click share and copy the link. I come on Virily and I click on the icon that looks like a video camera and I paste the link there and the video shows up like magic.
It shows up, Sandra, but when I placed a Vivo video on there, there was no sound. I checked again and it still has no sound. The actual problem is that it doesn’t have an edit button, so the video sits there in perpetuity or as long as it will take admin to fix it.
I once posted two videos from YouTube. One showed up and one had disappeared so I had to edit the post to take out the reference to the other video since I did not want to go searching for it again.
I still don’t understand what “Ëmbed” mean. Sorry. Care to explain, please?
Go to YouTube below the video you will see a SHARE button.
Click on it and a dropdown screen will appear,(white) You will see a “blue” link, DONT CLICK on it.
Look to the top row of icons, Twitter, etc.
Click on the first icon that looks like this
The screen will change and you will see some digital code, that is the Embed code.
Copy it carefully, it will show COPIED
Now go back to Virily and paste it into the EMBED app.
Click enter, and the video will appear like magic.
Wait, I see it says it will look like this, but there is no this there – either that or I am so dang tired I can’t read. Which is it Andre?
Oh and Carol can have her spot and yes I do a lot of things here that I don’t get “paid for”. Writing is a part of me for very specific reasons.

You are so right Andre. And I just posted an embedded YouTube video without thinking. I realized this the other day. I rarely post videos, but they cannot be edited, as you say. I will post it in a Poll the next time. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
