Wacky Wednesday ~ Project Pink knitwear

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this month is symbolically marked by pink ribbons. However, in order to touch especially this month with the initiative on raising awareness and the importance of prevention in this field, many cities in our country have joined the all-Slovenian Pink Knitwear project. The project was created by Europa Donna. These are pink knitwear that have been knit by skilful hands for some time, with the aim of wrapping at least one tree in the city to raise awareness amongst the general public about breast cancer and to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle, early detection and effective treatment of the disease. Lest you misunderstand. No wacky this project I support with all my heart. The “clothed” trees are a little wacky.

  1. That is a unique and impressive way to raise that awareness, Vidocka! That’s really an important awareness that must be supported. This reminds me of my youngest sister who had to have her breasts removed three years ago.

…and I think this not merely happened for the women only coz men could have this cancer too…

  2. What a great initiative and it is so cute and adorable. I love to knit although I have never knitted any kind of pink knitwear hugging a tree before. The only advertisement and program with pink for breast cancer that I ever seen here in Canada is the pink ribbon. Maybe I could start a fashionable cancer awareness program with pink knitwear knitted with my own pudgy hands here in my corner of the world…

    • This is a really interesting idea that is new in our country. Knitwear can be made by anyone who wants it and bring it to the agreed place. But for some time now we have pink ribbons
