Surikate are very successful predators, but at the same time they can also be the prey of many larger animals. Their predatory nature is indicated by a sharp teeth, an extended, sensitive nose, well rooted in roots, tubers and prey, which is hidden underground. In front of the larger predators, they protect life in groups and diverse defensive behavior, which includes typical guards, alerting members of the group to danger and hiding in the ditches, as well as an enchanted, intimidating posture in which they try to disperse the attackers. Surikates have a good depth of sight, but a small field of view. Therefore, when cautioning for predators, they must constantly turn their head. Surikate also feeds on toxic snakes and scorpions and is immune to some of their poisons. They can survive without drinking water, since sufficient amount of water is obtained from roots, tubers and fruits.

Thanks for seeing and kind comment dear friend
This is what I read about this animal compared to the meerkat….
Meerkat:
Suricata, a small carnivorous mammal of the mongoose family, from the Kalahari Desert, known for its habit of standing on its hind legs.
Mongoose:
Carnivores of the family Herpestidae and the similar Malagasy mongooses (ver=161009), ranging in size from small rats to large cats, including the Indian mongoose famed as a predator of venomous snakes.
Thanks for the detailed explanation dear friend… I have never had such deeper feelings in these cute animals
I do not know where the skirt lives, but I really like it
Thanks for seeing and kind comment….These little animals really are interesting
In my country, this Meerkat is only available at the zoo or Safari Garden. But their families, are very well known in my country, they are what we call Luwak (a kind of civet), which often eats coffee beans, and coffee beans that have become their feces, we call Luwak coffee which are very famous here.
I do not know if it’s the same animal …. surikates are true masters for snakes … they are also immune to snake
No, of course, they are a different kind of animal but still in the same family. I know that meerkat or suricate is immune to the poison of snakes or scorpions.
This is too much for me dear friend … I have never had such a deeper impression of who … who caught a similar look and probably in a related
Maybe I’m too excited to respond to your inspirational post, dear friend.
You’re very kind my dear friend
This is the first time I am seeing this little predator Surikata. Thanks for the share Lado.
Thanks for seeing and kind comment…these are real masters for snakes … they seem to be immune to snake
On second thoughts, I think I have seen these creatures outdoor a few times. We call these creatures Mongoose. Are Mongoose (or Meerkat) and Surikata the same?
I’m not sure, but it seems to me to be the same animal my friend
I haven’t seen this kind of animal yet. I’m not sure if we have this here because I haven’t visited some of the zoos in our area lately. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos.
Thanks for seeing and kind comment dear Sharon
Aren’t these what we call Meerkats? They look like what we have at the Auckland Zoo
They are lovely
I do not know how they are called to you … we know them as surikates … probably this is about the same alipaceous animal very similar
