Visit to the zoo in Ljubljana – 6

The Ljubljana Zoo also has a number of different species of monkeys. Among them are certainly the most popular chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are a genus of monkeys from the human family. The genus consists of two types: to a more familiar ordinary chimpanzee and to a dwarf chimpanzee or bonobo. Chimpanzees and gorillas are, unlike orangutans, very sociable. They are very developed because of their big brains, but they do not have tail. They use their hands more handily, they climb on climbing from one hand to another or rely on them. They do not have claws but their nails, they have excellent eyesight. They see in colors, which helps them find mature fruits that are very important for them. Their habitat is tropical forests and grasslands. They usually have only one puppy at the same time, since their mother can not breastfeed at the same time and tolerate more puppies for several years. Eating mostly can be digestible vegetable food, and it is well known that they also spoil other animals, mostly invertebrates.

  1. We have many types of monkeys on almost every island, Orangutans are a type of monkey originating from our forest on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo). Orangutans come from the word “Orang Hutan” which mean forest people. They, monkeys have special intelligence indeed.

    • Oh thanks a friend for a detailed explanation … I am very pleased with the interesting details … and what is the population of Orangutan … will he survive?

      • In Kalimantan, there may still be around 55,000 individuals but in Sumatra, which may only be around 500 individuals who have dropped dramatically because their land has continued to decline due to many things. In theory, they have been protected by law since 1931, but in practice, many people are still involved in illegal animal trafficking with foreign traders.

  2. We have a few different monkeys in the Auckland Zoo. As far as I know, Spider Monkeys. Pistacho Monkeys, Baboons, I think we had some Orangutangs and there are a few others.

    • This is really sad only so we will preserve them … they are already dying in nature in the face of the cruel people who are hunting and killing
