Understanding Others

Recognizing and understanding others is the key to success, happiness, and contentment in life. Recognizing and understanding other people is, therefore, key to success in your private and business life. Lao Tse said: He who knows other people is learned, and he who knows himself is wise. We need to start with ourselves. Therefore, the first step is certainly to understand ourselves well, what our behavioral style is, how we communicate with others, what our strengths and weaknesses are, and how others perceive us. The second step is recognizing others. The third step is that it is good to adapt our behavior to the interviewee’s behavioral style so that he or she will feel relaxed and safe when he or she is with us. We often mistakenly approach others because we think their way is similar to ours. We need to be aware that a certain number of people we will meet are strangers to our approach. Each of us has our own unique way of understanding.

  1. I can’t say I know myself fully well. You’re right you’ve to understand yourself first before understanding others.
It’s as it is written in the Bible: You should love others as you love yourself. So you’ve to love yourself before you love others.

  2. I began my IT career more than 30 years ago on a helpdesk. It means my first impulse is to help people. To do what I can do to help relieve whatever frustration they have.

I still do that here on Virily. I help those I can help.

  3. Specially in a virtual world where one hardly exposes one’s real self it is folly to judge them (good or bad) on what they write. Assumptions play a role. It is said ASSUME is to make an ASS of U and ME
    Have a nice day
