Two Cats on Someone’s Porch in Chicago – Black & White Version (2011-11-05 14-20-09_01)
The photo was taken in my neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois (Edgewater neighborhood).
I used a Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera to take the photo. Editing was done in Luminar Flex. I used the Develop filter to increase the shadows, blacks and clarity. Next I added the Accent AI and Polarizing filters and used the Advanced Contrast filter to increase the contrast in the highlights and shadows. Next I converted to black and white fine tuning it and used the Denoise filter to reduce the noise. Lastly I cropped the image.

These cats look just right for this black & white shot.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
I love both cats and dogs. This is a great photo
Thanks, Branka. I’m more of a dog guy but I don’t mind cats.
No. I won’t enter contests because doing so usually turns over the rights to the photo to the people running the contest. I’ve tried putting some of my photos on FineArtAmerica or mugmug but have never sold anything. I just do it because I enjoy photography.
The lines formed from the fence, walls, and stairs are a cool backdrop for the two cats.
I love both, cats and dogs but unfortunately, my oldest daughter has cynophobia.
Thanks. That’s a shame about your daughter. Kids and dogs just seem to go hand-in-paw.
No, that doesn’t apply to her, even though she is now 33 years old.
Come on, you can’t ask me to choose between dogs or cats.
It’s like asking if I prefer pizza or spaghetti carbonara. It’s an impossible choice. ?
Jokes aside, that’s one marvelous photo! ?
Great composition, looks like the cats were posing for the shoot, and black and white is just the perfect filter for it. ?
LOL. Actually, I was walking my dog when I took this photo and the cats were staring at him.
And the choice really is clear … pizza. 🙂
Aww, that’s why they don’t look very pleased. ?
I should have chosen a better opponent for the Almighty Pizza, I see. ?
Lasagna would have made the choice more difficult.
I thought so, I was almost going to say lasagna. But then, I’m the one who is not into lasagna, making the choice easier. ?
I love the photo! It’s so lovely. But I can’t vote because we have both in our home.
Thanks, Sharon. We had a dog and a cat simultaneously once and the cat just hid out in my daughters’ room. It didn’t like the dog much even though the dog never bothered it.
As always, and perfect Gary
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
We have more dogs than cats. They all have a place.
We used to have cats because the places we lived in didn’t allow dogs. When we finally bought our own place, we got a dog. My wife and I both prefer them to cats.
I love both cats and dogs. This is an incredible photo of these cats on the porch Gary. Wow!
Thanks, Carol. I just noticed them when I was out walking my dog.
A perfect shot! And love the edit.
Thanks, again. At first I was going to do it in color but then decided black and white would look better.
