Tulips ~ Color Crazy Challenge

Sharing a red tulip from with Kim’s Color Crazy Challenge. This week’s color is red. I found this tulip while out shopping and had to take some photos. One of the rare occasions I was not in my garden. These were out for Valentine’s Day.

The ones in my garden were black (Queen of the Night) and orange. I shared one of mine below. It is so orange it actually looks red. What do you think?

  1. It is reported that tulips were worth more than gold,” said Martha Smith. … The tulip’s history in The Netherlands didn’t begin until 1593 when botanist Carolus Clusius discovered them growing in Vienna and began cultivating them in The Netherlands

  2. I would have to say that is more red than orange for sure. I love tulips, don’t know why I don’t have any planted. I will blame it on the hardiness of our soil. Got a jack hammer?

    • Yes I agree with you Kim. The sun makes them more red. The soil here is not perfect and all of mine do not appear each spring but I enjoy the ones that do.

  3. Lovely tulip. Back in my garden in Latvia, I had red tulips and occasionally a yellow one would pop up. My red tulips had either black or yellow centers.

  4. I thought it was red! Just of another shade!
It’ll be interesting actually if we all try to post in different shades of red!
