Tomato Plant

Tomato plants produce yellow flowers that must get fertilized before they become fruits. The tomato plant bears both the male and female reproductive parts. The pollens must reach the female pistil for the fertilization to happen. Insects play a major part in the pollination process. The fertilized fruits initially appear as small green globes at the base of the blossoms. I could get a picture of this green globe when we had tomato plants in our garden.

These green globes grow to become ripe tomatoes. We did not have a bounty as we had only a few plants. We used to get 2 or 3 small fruits every week during the last summer. It is not enough for cooking. So we would eat the tomato fruits raw. It was a good addition to our garden though the yield was modest. We would try tomato plants again during next summer.
