The Wonderful Weather This Year

I try not to complain much anyway, but I must say that I definitely approve of our wonderful weather in Montana this year. That is mostly because it has been radically changeable, literally from week to week.

At the end of May and the beginning of June, our temperatures warmed up. We had temperatures in the 80s up to the low 90s. That is uncomfortably warm to me, but it is fantastic for the garden and flowerbeds.

Those temperatures persisted for just over a week, then we had a cooling trend. The high temperatures were in the upper 60s and low 70s. We also had a small amount of rain. The rain didn’t amount to a great deal, but it was enough to clear the air and help the forests from drying out as fast as they otherwise would have.

The week that ended a few days ago was back up to hot, with the temperatures in the 80s and overnight lows in the 50s.

Again, a few days ago, we had substantial cooling and hard rain. The rain hasn’t been constant, but when it does rain, it is a downpour. The downpours last for five or ten minutes, then they stop for an hour or two. Today’s high didn’t reach 60 and last night’s low was 47.

This is the peak pollen season, so this is also knocking down the grass pollen and keeping our air nice and clean.

We should have a return to normal hot conditions tomorrow or the next day, but the weather has been giving us some relief.

  • Do you like it when there is a rain and cooler temperatures after a week or more of hot, dry conditions?

    • Yes
    • No
    • I’m good with cooler temperatures, but not rain

    • It is here, too. Unfortunately, many people around here don’t remember what it was like last year, so they think we are having unusual weather. It isn’t unusual at all.
