Leaf-tailed geckos have the most amazing looking eyes. Their pupils are not round but vertical and covered by pinholes that widen at night to they can see as much light as possible. The eyes of the gecko have more light-sensitive cells than human eyes have. It can, therefore, pick out objects and even see colors at night.
The leaf-tailed gecko and other nocturnal gecko species have the ability to see up to 350 times better in the dimmest light. If looked at closely their eyes have unusual and intricate eye patterns that provide camouflage. They don’t have eyelids instead their eyes are protected by a transparent membrane. The gecko can clean this membrane with its tongue.

I don’t think I would have one as a pet. I didn’t mind seeing one at the zoo.
I am fine with having them in my garden but not as pets .
In thailand there is a legend about the Gecko. That the number of times the one nearest to you says its name, tells how important you are. we used to listen to them at night hoping they would reach the level of very important person.
They never did.
that is very interesting, Doc.
I haven’t seen a gecko up close for it is harmful with its claws. But we have geckos here in the forest.
Interesting that you have geckos in the forest, Alex
No. I can’t have them as pets. Their eyes look like those of dinosaurs. They are harmless, aren’t they?
They certainly won’t attack you. Probably be afraid of you since they wouldn’t know what you want from them.
That’s encouraging. I thought they were dangerous.
They are amazing animals. A friend has one as a pet.
I have been considering adopting another cat but others have suggested all sorts of things from geckos to some kind of lizards and so on but I think I will stick to what I know, Carol.
Target locked and in attacking position ………….
We have these guys but a smaller version
