Stop trying to calm the storm, calm yourself and the storm will pass.
Often the storms that we face are the storms within. When we calm down , we find ourselves thinking right, being less emotional and more practical and working towards a solution to the problem. When we focus on solutions the storms outside look less menacing and more within our control.
In that light the saying above seems so very true. When we try to calm the storm outside while a storm is brewing within we only get more fireworks.
Working on those things that are within our control gives us a sense of control, power and confidence. It helps us to be less anxious and be more focused on what can be done.
This picture was taken on a beautiful day just moments after sunset. It filled me with so much peace and love just siting there and watching the scene.

The best way to calm the mind is to focus on what needs to be done in any situation. Then, we won’t care if there is a storm brewing outside and there will be peace inside.
Most often we need to become calm before we can think and plant alternatives , but I get what you means. Thanks for stopping by.
Being calm and composed is a virtue. It is easier said than done.
you’ve asked a great question, one that philosophers have chased for thousands of years. What in the end do we do about our inner storm?
I always like the old adage that which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
Absolutely, I believe each storm storm we overcome makes us stronger and more resilient.
sometimes old adages still apply!!
There are no two ways about it. You are right there about calming oneself rather than trying to control what’s causing the storm.
True Grace, but people often give way to anxiety and fear when they face storms.
I have one right in my house – a guest. She is a nice person but cannot face challenges.
There are so many people struggling with these issues everyday.
I talk to myself a lot and know this too shall pass.
I love to talk positively to myself , a very effective technique Carol.
