THE SENTRY

“While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power You have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost.”~John-17-12

If you have an opportunity to visit London, you would likely visit Buckingham Palace. Standing at the main gate, you will see an impressive looking guard. He will be wearing a bright-red jacket, a gigantic bear-skin headgear; black trousers, and mirror-polished boots. He will be carrying a high-powered assault rifle. His job is to keep the royal residents safe-and to attract a couple of tourists, naturally!

As you gaze at him, you will silently vow not to pick an argument with him. The way he handles the gun in the drill maneuver sends a clear message that he is intimately familiar with its features and purpose. With the constant threat of terrorism and violent crime, the world today is policed by an ever-increasing demand for guards than at any other time in history.

    • Beefeaters are traditionally chosen from the gentry to become the Yeomen Warders,(Beefeaters) of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London the bowler-hat(Charlie Chaplain’s hat) of the ’20s mainly worn by government workers were closely fashioned along the lines of the Beefeaters headgear. Can you imagine how many American Backbear skins went into the making of the Coldstream-guards headgear?
