In the picture is the plate made of SAL leaf, the tree that grows in Nepal. My niece said that the Sal plate is not only for healthy eating but it also brings good luck to the diner. Gee, what a way to promote the merchandise.

This is the first I have heard of it. If you believe something is lucky you will be more open to looking for luck.
I do not believe in anything bringing good luck.
I tend to agree with you and still I think if you are “looking” for luck you may attribute more things to luck. It’s probably a happy emotion.
that’s called a conformation bias, and should be avoided
