The New Virily Sharing Options and the Dashboard Update!!!!! ? POLL

Hi all!

Have you noticed the new Virily sharing options on every page…..?! ? I must say I have and I love it…..! ? When you click on the “More (sharing) Options” button there is a whole bunch of sharing options…! AND, there is also the (I think) exact number of shares at the top of the sharing options menu…! ? Sooo, maybe that is why the number of shares was removed for some time and I think and hope it is just the process of changes that we are experiencing here… The number of views is also removed and maybe it is also the part of those changes…

There is also a new ad at the bottom of every page which I think is the actual site I think Virily is using to make this possible…

Also, I love that the dashboard updated in all its sections right at the beginning of the new month…!

What do you think…..?

Thank you for visiting!!! 🙂

Note: The cover photo is my own made within The Sunset series and not allowed for use.

• Do you like the new sharing options?! 🙂

    • Yes
    • No

What do you think?

    • I don’t quite know what sharing buttons at the bottom you refer…? I think there are any at the bottom, only the ones at the top of the article and the black bar on the left; and yes there are also the ones at the bottom of the text within an article, if that is what you meant…?

I must say that I’ve just noticed that the black bar covers the options in the Menu when clicked, so that is what I object… I will have to write about it in my next article(s) too….. :/|

  1. I’m somewhat neutral about the extra buttons. I will still use the old ones that include my referral link, but I hope guests use any button they can see easily and share in more places that just Facebook and Twitter. I love that the dashboard updated in a timely manner this month.

  2. Perhaps understanding the new system “shareaholic” would help some people understand. It is a different format. When you share note what policy you are abiding by. It should be noted that pointing out the obvious is not arguing. Agreeing with someone is allowed.

        • Me too, but the first part is not that clear to me either… I guess that second part is referred to my other answer below in the comments where Trenna replied on one other user’s comment… I told her she is not right but she maybe thought I was just opposing her without the real arguments, but she actually really wasn’t right so I just explained it to her…
(we had some clashes of misunderstandings before and she didn’t know this was MY post when commenting so she didn’t want to comment/reply further even though I didn’t mind it… I just can’t argue or discuss with someone who sees something completely opposite in my words than what I try to say and that is the case here…., unfortunately not possible to explain some things and it is very frustrating…..!!!)

        • Exactly… But here, I’m not sure that’s the thing… :/ This is the situation where I’m accused for “spammy” comments for my “general” comment when I only tried to give and support, and while I opened and upvoted each of her posts before that comment… So my effort wasn’t appreciated (even though I can’t say I received a similar appreciation from her before that), instead “I should have felt thankful for not being reported instead” and also received an ironic reply to my comment….. Not only to say that, she was also confused why I opened and upvoted her posts after that even though I said I won’t… Some people would just notice you are a forgiving and giving person, and some…..

    • Yes, I can understand what you mean… I must say that it is a lot and much faster comparing to some other sites I’ve been on… It does need a lot of time to spend here in order to earn but it also has to do with the value of a Viril which fluctuates and at times has been very low… Luckily and thankfully it is almost the highest now it has been and hopefully will stay or rise…
Yes, of course it would be much better if we could earn much more for the time we spend here but… :/

      • Well, as each of us gives it our all, the value will rise. Rating each other highly, engaging discussions and sharing all we can of each other will improve the site’s indexing.

Consistent, active posting will help, too, as will writing on trending topics.

          • Yes, but I tend to be as much active as I can, unfortunately hard to manage all, and also, you are kind of right, maybe the best solution is to have your own blog/site, although I think this one is also useful if you use it continuously… It has some advantages so…

          • I never tried any of those you mentioned, only Niume, which was my first site of this kind… I just think it would be much easier not to have so many bugs and problems here so this could also be the site to advertise my work properly (that is why I mentioned our own blogs and sites…) and use it in that purpose publicly…

    • I hear you, Janice. I started to be fairly active in October 2017 and I’m only now reaching my payment threshold. You have to be here a lot, share a lot of Virily posts on social media, answer comments within a day or two, and read a lot of what others write and comment. This site isn’t so much about writing as it is about interaction.

That’s why I use the site to relax and share things that are easy, like photos. That doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally put forth some effort and time into a quiz, but usually I can post something easy, participate in challenges, and just have fun (provided the site is working right). Quizzes and polls will earn you more than the story format here, so you earn faster if you find a way to put what you want to share into one of those formats. This post is an example of how tasartcraft does that. As they say, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

I don’t look at this site as a place to earn because I know I’ll earn more even on myLot for time put in or working much harder on my blogs than I will spending time on either of these sites. But being here and on myLot gives me fresh ideas and sometimes a new perspective on something because I interact with so many people who aren’t bloggers and don’t live in the United States.

      • Hehehehehe, nicely put Barbara, I mostly agree with you… Although, do not scare Janice, $10 can be earned in 1 or 2 months too, like many people here earn, it only depends on how active you are, how much effort you put into those activities that earn Virils… 😉 Since every act counts, just tend to do it as much as you can if you want to earn faster, and the more active you are with other people’s posts they will more return the favor and pay attention to your posts… 😉

Barabara, I used to post on myLot but not that active anymore, and I must say I think earning is maybe even faster here, you just have to put some effort and be active. But I must admit it also depends on what you like better, which site and its activities, cause then you will probably earn faster where you like it better….. 😉 Can you also tell me where else do you blog (and earn)…?

        • Most of my blogs are self-hosted. I write on HubPages (two accounts), here, and on MyLot. I have some work still up on sites that will probably disappear soon so I’m not adding more to them. The blog I’m currently working on is about myLot and I expect to publish it tomorrow. I have a post about Virily on the same site.

          • Really…, that much…..??! But myLot is not for blogging…? How is earning there, on HP, I heard it’s very tough…? What sites will disappear…? Oh, that is a great idea to earn from… Thanks!!!

          • You also commented this under one of my replies to Elena’s comments, where we actually discussed a different issue – lack of views lately, but since there is no reply button there to answer you I will do it here…:
“Most people will stay away from a site that’s buggy until the bugs are fixed. It’s a waste of time when the pages keep scrolling while you’re trying to read them, quizzes take forever to get to post correctly, etc. I also stop sharing when the site is buggy because I don’t want to have people form a first impression of the site when it’s in transition and behaving oddly.”

I agree some people would act like that, but if you actually take a look at some other sites (I’m not talking this kind of sites but the regular sites) it happens the same, and there could be an explanation in one of the member’s comments below which is that many sites intentionally make it like that so people would click more on ads… I actually noticed that it happens even on some sites that have a high reputation…
When it comes to views I agree there is a lack of activity lately, but like I wrote to you and some other members recently, and in the article I’m preparing, the problem that happens with newly published posts and people not knowing about it could be the reason for LESS VISITS on their posts…..

    • Janice, I agree with Barabara, but, like I said in my reply to her comment, $10 can be earned in 1 or 2 months too, like many people here earn, it only depends on how active you are, how much effort you put into those activities that earn Virils… ? Since every act counts, just tend to do it as much as you can if you want to earn faster, and the more active you are with other people’s posts they will more return the favor and pay attention to your posts… ?

      • Really successful bloggers like Janice don’t have time to waste earning pennies by spending hours on sites like this. She has a demanding day job, writes a couple of very polished blog posts each week, hosts at least one weekend linky party, and and has a family. LIke me, she joins many new sites so she can review them and stick around if it makes sense. I joined eleven months before I decided to really spend enough time here to try for a payout. I would just peak in occasionally to see what was happening and comment on posts friends were making.

Many of us do that. We join new sites to evaluate them, make a few posts, and then if we see a site probably isn’t going to make it, we stop posting. We’ve been burned too many times.

        • I know what kind of posts Janice writes but I noticed she wanted to be active with other people’s posts too, although not very often… Also, I don’t know which other sites will pay you more than this one or any other site of this kind…, they usually pay only less not more, and usually those ARE only pennies… I am not a usual blogger, nor writer, so it is not something I can or am interested in doing all day and on many/several sites, I can hardly manage this one, and my main “goal” is to promote my art so…

I don’t know how you manage all that…? This site also exists more than a year, and earning is just fine if you are active, but I do mind that when it comes to promotion only a few people will notice your work here, what I want to say is that the audience is very small here but posts can be also promoted via social networks, although it would be much better if there would be much more active users so the audience would be larger and more effective …

        • You also commented this under one of my replies to Elena’s comments, where we actually discussed a different issue – lack of views lately, but since there is no reply button there to answer you I will do it here…:

          • I agree that plenty of the sites I visit, especially from ads or Twitter links, are hard to read and either scroll up and down or take forever to scroll at all. I don’t have time to bother with them. If I site doesn’t function properly, I leave to visit a site that does. Many sites put clickbait on in ads (including this one) and if you follow the link you constantly have to wait for ads to load or navigate around them. Many ads try to trick you into clicking them with a arrow you think will take you to the next page, when when you really need to click is the “continue” button after the ad. Those sites may get a few clicks, but then people wise up to them and stay away.

        • Just to notice you, I think you missed one other reply of mine above the one you answered to, probably because of the confusing notifications or where they actually lead you (the bouncing)…
Although I noticed today that is now goes almost exactly where it should be, so it could have been a malfunction… :/

OK, I know, but some people will learn and are familiar with how such sites functions or how the ads look and just avoid such things while they still visit the site… I never click on ads here nor I noticed there are clickbaits…

          • I don’t click on them here, but sometimes you see the links on social media and you don’t realize until you get to the site that it was just clickbait. Also, with these long threads and the limited reply options, I sometimes can’t find where your unanswered comments are because the site jumps up and down and I lose where I thought it was. Sometimes I can’t reply under a comment because there is no reply button.

Last night I tried to make a quiz and couldn’t because it was based on photos and I couldn’t get a photo to load with the answers. Then I tried to do a poll and the same thing happened, so I gave up and went to bed. I shouldn’t have to spend 30 minutes trying to get a post template to work when I can make two posts at myLot in the same time and enjoy it more. I’m hoping it was a temporary glitch last night. No amount of money earned is worth this aggravation.

        • Sorry for the late reply, I hope you remember what we talked about…..! ;D

OK, I understand about the ads.
When it comes to comments, luckily it seems it stopped going up and down so not a problem to find it, also if there is no reply button just go on the first previous comment of that person you want to reply to where there IS a reply button, or any other previous comment where it could be appropriate to answer…

Yes, I know, I understand, I’m sorry that happened, and I’m never doing quizzes but I do polls so I know it happens sometimes….. When it comes to myLot, you are right, it works perfectly and I’m glad there are no glitches like this, but I have another problem with myLot, people there can be really obsessed with criticism, probably because that is something they earn from, but I don’t like such atmosphere so I kind of gave up and writing there only sometimes….. :/

      • I have been working with sites like this for years. The first rule is stay in business! Virily has made it a calendar year, that is longer than many of these sites make it. The second is continuous improvement. While it isn’t continuous yet, there has been improvement.

          • Sites like Virily often have shake periods of 18 months or so. The initial wave of “easy money” people will fade away and the serious content people will stay.

If Virily makes it out of that initial phase (and honestly more sties have failed there then any other place in this market) then it will be the first and that is a great position to be in!

        • Hahahahahhaha, yes, I must say you are right and the US sometimes think so… 😉 I also want to inform you that my country is about to get the first Starbucks coffeeshop (I previously told you that we don’t have any yet when we talked about coffeeshops… so maybe I sensed or attracted it in some way, hehehhehe….. ;))

        • PS I know you said you don’t make replies after a thread comes to an end so I just hope you don’t feel obligated after I told you recently you can answer after it too… I’m glad you do especially when there is a conversation or something important going on but I just don’t want you to feel obligated in those other situations….. :/

        • Thanks for the Starbucks, it is not opened yet, but I heard soon it will…

Sorry, I’m not sure what you actually meant…? :/ Is it that you don’t feel obligated, instead you do it because you want to…..? I just meant OF COURSE you can continue commenting if you want to and have something to say…

          • good question, I only comment if I have something to say. Sometimes it is best to let threads die. Sometimes it is more interesting to find out more about how a person is thinking!

          • I do wonder, however about who is viewing Virily posts now. Guest views are pretty consistent, but it seems many of the regulars are moving to new sites.

          • That issue is fairly easily explained (latest is time-based, for example, the last 10 posts on the site. Following shows the latest posts from the people you are following, not the last 10, 20 or so posts on the site. So not seeing posts in latest is by design in theory, the posts in latest would be a 24 by 7 operation (it isn’t but it could be).

        • Actually, you are not right, till recently ALL the newly published posts were visible in the Latest, in the order they were submitted to review, and now, I sometimes don’t see ANY of the 20 newly published posts from 1 person and sometimes it’s only 1 and the rest ones are in the Following, and it happens only to several and CERTAIN people, one of them is You…! They are also ALL VERIFIED USERS!!!!! I wrote about it in my new post that got published today, take a look… Althoguh I didn’t mention the names of the people to whose posts is this happening and that they are Verified, there was no more space for that, and maybe they don’t want to be named, but I’m thinking about making the “Update” post and writing their names so other people would know how to find their/your posts…..!

If it would be designed the way you described it wouldn’t be possible to find all the users and new users’ posts!

          • Verified users would be, by design treated differently than the rest of the publishing population. In fact, based on the very nature of the publication process verified users would be treated differently.

I do hear and understand your frustration.

        • I am not frustrated, you and all the other people whose posts are not visible in the Latest should be frustrated because all the people who don’t follow can’t see your posts ANYWHERE, and that is especially referred to the NEW members who should be able to see and find and learn about ALL the users from the Latest, so it is probably a bug…
Verified users were never treated differently here till this glitch happened….. Being a Verified user only means your posts don’t have to go through the approval process but you can publish what ever you want without the previous approval…

        • PS I was only sorry for not knowing that all of those people’s posts were actually in the Following while I thought they were NOT PUBLISHING..!!! There was no notification about this nor anything similar….!

  3. I think the number of shares at the top of the menu is actually the number of views (or shares) on Virily (as a whole website) not for your post… So, the problem whereby writers can’t know how many views and shares they have is not solved!!

And I don’t like the changes because there are way too many advertisements now! And some of them are intrusive!! I went to a quiz page and the “play now” button is pushed too low by ads that I need to scroll down to see the button!! (especially if the description for the quiz is short) Some people would just leave because they can’t find the button!! They would think they clicked a spam link to an advertising page!!

I don’t think this is a good way to attract new users at all!!

    • No, that number presents only the number of shares (as it writes beside the number) of the page you are currently on so…..

Yes, I noticed the same thing with polls, and it IS a little confusing but I guess it is maybe put that way intentionally to click more on the ads… Also, I know ads can be annoying but I also guess the more of them the higher the revenue and earnings too so…..

      • Hmm…I am not very sure probably coz the pages I visited doesn’t have shares…

Yes, I’ve to agree its annoying, I mean the ads… We’ll be able to tolerate them but sometimes, too much ads is not welcoming for new people… I’m just saying… its always hard to keep the balance…

          • It is not a problem…
You also commented regularly on the post (not as a reply to someone else), I suppose you knew then whose post it is, or a mistake again…? You can also reply to my reply there if you want…..

• There is also “Sharing is caring!” option under the post which clearly says the same number of shares that the black sharing options bar on the left say and specifically how many shares on which site (social media) is made, so…

      • Hmm… I just saw the numbers… and yes, it shows the shares of the current page (post) you’re on… I just didn’t happen to visit any post with shares hence I didn’t realise that until today…

Anyway, it’s a small misunderstanding and is no big deal now that we’re now more clear of it… 🙂

I’m actually wishing more of the number of views to be back here… rather than the number of shares … anyways…

        • Yes, that is logical….. 🙂

          Of course…! 🙂

Yes, it would be great to have it back here, but I’m just wondering if it was correct at all, since it wasn’t showing unique views but the overall number of views which seemed illogical sometimes…..

    • The ad is now removed but I just must add that I’ve just noticed that the black bar covers the options in the Menu when clicked, so that is what I object too… I will have to write about it in my next article(s) too….. ;/|

Also, when it comes to less views generally lately there is a malfunction, not all the newly published posts are visible in the Latest, but they are in the Following (at least of the people you follow)… I will write an article about it, and whose post are not visible in the Latest, except if they fix that in the meantime…! :/

      • It’s true that I recently joined the platform, however my views dropped from 250+ to 25-30….which is hmm :/ That’s why I haven’t been posting every day because I thought that it might make no sense writing anymore if according to the difference. Later even the views and the shares disappeared. What do you think about it?

        • Do you refer to the number of views that was stated in each post when you say 250+, because that number wasn’t representing unique views, and only unique views were count when receiving Virils for it…..?
Or you were getting 250+ notifications about views…..?

          • I do not know how were they counting it. I refer to the number of views that was standing next to the number of shares of the post. I do not refer to the notifications.

        • Ok, so that number was presenting the whole number of visits on your post, which means the same person could visit it several times and it would count only 1 view, as you get Virils only for the first view (unique view) from 1 IP address….. So now that that number is removed it doesn’t mean less views, it is just removed and the number of your unique views per 1 post you can see and count by seeing the number of notifications you get for views…

I just noticed there is just less activity of members on the site – less comments and new posts…..

          • Most people will stay away from a site that’s buggy until the bugs are fixed. It’s a waste of time when the pages keep scrolling while you’re trying to read them, quizzes take forever to get to post correctly, etc. I also stop sharing when the site is buggy because I don’t want to have people form a first impression of the site when it’s in transition and behaving oddly.

        • That number just wasn’t correct in the way of counting unique views….. But it was a little confusing because it sometimes said like 130 views while I got like 10 or 15 actual (unique) views, which looks impossible….. So I don’t know if that number was correct….. :/
