I mean the phrase, literally. There is a lady who simply protests too much. No matter what I do or say it is not good enough. She resists compliments, suggestions, kinds words and even random smiles. At first I tried to reach out and make her feel welcome and comfortable. Big mistake.
Then I paid her a compliment. Bigger mistake.
When someone is determined to resist and hate, the best thing to do is simply walk away and NEVER look back. It took me years of trying to smooth the waters and please everyone to realize it’s okay to say “I really don’t care. It means nothing in my world.”
It’s amazing what freedom comes with learning when and how to walk away from a resister.
