Susie’s attitude was very strange over the past week. She always goes berserk every time she is approached or met face to face with Blue or Black. I guessed that happened because she was pregnant again.
I thought that not long ago Susie gave birth to her three children where Black was one of them. She gave birth to Black on January 3, as I have said in the previous post. The photo above that I shared in Saturday Creature this time is a picture of Black’s father, which I have never seen again since the last few weeks.
Susie now prefers to be outside the house. She will disappear a few hours and go home just to eat or choose to relax on the front porch or back rather than playing with Black and Blue inside the house as before.

Do you know how many times a year a cat can give birth?

Poor Susie has to be on her own even when she is pregnant. So the mood swings are fine I have seen how strong the mothers can be once they have their kittens. We can learn a lot from these cats.
Yes, Susie’s temperament was so changed and always angry to see other cats near her, but she was indeed very strong.

Cute cat and photo…
Thank you, Branka. Hey, how are you?
Unfortunately don’t know the answer to your question…Your post & cat photo is just wonderful!!!
That’s okay… Thank you so much, Anastasia.
Yes, he is… Thank you, Ta.
I suspect you already know the answer to the question you asked my friend. It is, as Kim said, cats can reproduce very quickly as can dogs.
To be honest, this is the first time I have kept a female cat. So, I have no idea how many times a female cat can give birth in a year.
I remember helping Black’s birth in early January, and if Susie is now pregnant again, it is almost four months apart, and through my logic at that interval, at least she will have 3 times this year, but I don’t know for sure.
I can understand that, I’ve never had a cat that wasn’t fixed and haven’t had a cat in more than 40 years.
I understand, maybe because you prefer dogs. I also like dogs, unfortunately, my oldest daughter has cynophobia.
we live inside the boundaries of where we need to be.
If you check the net it says that a female cat can give birth as many as 6 to 8 times a year as long as she is young and healthy. But as she grows older and has a lot of litters she will grow weak, lose weight and eventually you just might lose her. I think she can be spayed about three weeks after giving birth but I am not too sure so just ask a vet or check on the internet. I strongly suggest you have her spayed as she will be with you and Blue and Black longer. She might still be going out because that is her way now, but maybe she will stay more around the house instead of always looking for a mate. Black’s father is very handsome but he too will not last too long if he stays outside and fights for the rights to mount a female cat.
Thanks for your information and input, dear friend. 6-8 is so much. I think, we really have to spay it.
Two months since Black was born, I never saw Black’s father again. Apparently, Susie’s partner is currently the one who lost the competition with black’s father.
My vet says four weeks, and not to worry, she can still nurse the other four weeks. That idea scared me so I waited until Nickle quit nursing or when the kittens were 8 weeks old. Which didn’t always work. As I mentioned she would come into heat 2-3 weeks after giving birth. At least Susie waited 3 months.
She can come into estrus when she is still nursing the last litter. Sometimes within four weeks of the litter born. Since you live in a place where it does not get cold her season might last all year long. Her health will start to fail having too many litters.
I had that problem with Nickle. She would come into heat while nursing. Only be in heat for a day, then be pregnant again. It was too costly to have her fixed while she was pregnant. It took two years to finally get her to the vet. By that time she only weighed 6 pounds, and was very run down.
I’m pretty worried that something like that will happen to Susie. The problem is, sometime after giving birth, I can’t always keep Susie from staying in a house like Black and Blue.
That is why I mentioned Nickle. It sounds like Susie is doing the same thing. They are very good at getting out arent they. I mean Nickle could get out get bred and be back in an hour. I sometimes wouldnt even know she had gotten out, until she got big again. It took TWO years to do it, and not from my lack of trying.
According to your input, I think it’s very pity if she gets pregnant and gives birth too often.
Just remember the canned food during her time. That will help her keep the weight on. Wonder how many she will have. I say three! Two black and white striped and one grey.
I am happy that she always eats a lot, and I always gave her a combination of canned food and biscuits. Unfortunately, once she finishes eating, she will find a way to get out of the house…
Susie’s partner is now dappled gray…
I know you are worried about the birth. She is older now, and she knows what to do. You won’t have the same problems as last time.
Of course, I’m worried about her, Kim.
I won’t have the same problems as before? Are you sure?
Almost 100%. She was a new mom, and she learned a lot. Just make sure she washes the ones she just had. As soon as Nickles kittens would come out, I would move them out of the muck and put them to her mouth, so she wouldnt forget to clean the one she just had.
Okay, Kim. Even I learn a lot from you… Thanks for your input and suggestion.
I once helped a cat give birth as she wanted someone to be with her. So I looked after her and 3 kittens were born, it was a good experience and she was a good mother
I also helped the birth of Black and his two siblings as Susie asked. And yes, that is a great experience.
I expect a healthy cat could go into estrus several times a year. younger ones more often than older ones… if she’s very well fed, her litter size will generally match her nipple count
My youngest daughter and I did not expect Susie to give too many kitty because only the two of us took care of them, but we all hoped she would always be healthy.
I do not know exactly but my cats are born 2x per year
You are the one who gave a minimum count here… I merely calculating the arrival possibility of kitties this year…
My cat was born for the first time in May, and second in September
It seems that it will be the same time interval as Susie
I really know nothing. I make sure they have food and a place to live.
Thank you that you have shown concern and care. Don’t worry, they never lack of food.
I have no idea how many times a cat can be born … as long as I’m alive
Okay, dear friend. No problem. I’m just estimating…
I do not know, dear Albert ….. maybe you know how many times
Because I don’t know that, I ask. This is the first time we have a female cat, dear friend.
There is nothing … it is an interesting question, dear Albert
Mine never can, they are spade and neutered. But naturally, I guess it is 5-6 times per year.
I have suggested that Susie be castrated, but home people feel sorry, and if she will give birth 5-6 times a year, I will have so many cats this year…
I’ve little knowledge about cats … I wonder just wildly guess, 3?
Say three times a year, say only one survives of three, so this year alone, I will have at least five cats… woaahw…
It depends on how many times I want the owners to have small kittens. I have friends who only once allow this to happen to their cats. For the homeless, there is a purely theoretical calculation that I can have 5 births per year.
Geez… 5 time a year is so much! This is going to be a debate again to make Susie sterile or not
