The cage of procrastination

I spent the last weeks (months?) observing and gathering stuff.

I don’t feel ready to let out, or attempt to bring what I collected on the table.

Maybe I just can’t admit I’m procrastinating.

Is waiting for the right moment just an excuse to postpone our plans?

Or is it a wise thing to do?

All I know is that I hate deadlines!

 

I think there could be different reasons why someone might always avoid facing the challenge of doing something, but they tend to revolve around the fear of failure.

It gets tougher when you realize you have no control over the consequences of your actions, especially on the internet. You know, what comes here stays here. Some platforms will make you believe you can delete the content you shared but, most of the time, they’re deceiving you. Perhaps not voluntarily, but they do because it’s something they don’t have control over either, yet they give us the option to delete content like it would make a difference.

It is not the case for Virily, as the content we post here somehow becomes theirs. It’s the case for most platforms, but if the terms of service clearly state so, we can’t act like we didn’t know. Or better, we could but then it’s our fault: ignorantia juris non excusat.

Then I suppose it isn’t fear of failure alone, but fear of responsibility.

 

I could spend hours writing about nothing, I came to discover this talent of mine recently, like right now. I wonder what I could use it for…

  1. If I have mastered something, it’s procrastination. However, I love the quote, “Some people call it procrastinating, I call it thinking”.
    I am somewhat careful what I write online, but sometimes I regret posting my photos.

    • LOL Yes, I suppose I mastered the art of “thinking” as well. ?
      The worst part when it comes to photos is that I sometimes forget I posted a photo somewhere, then someone brings it up. ?

  2. Very early, in my beginning of my online years I posted something about myself which I regret to this day. It wasn’t anything great , I am a private person I don’t share much but I did share personal details like my age and put my real picture. I have been hounded since then by a creep who follows me to this day. Now I use a shortened version of my name on most sites an a nom de plume on a few others.

    • Whoa, I’m sorry about that. It can be dangerous, for real.
      It has never happened to me but I must definitely keep safe and learn to be more private. It takes nothing to regret doing something on the internet, it seems.

    When it comes to procrastination I do that if I can conveniently wait with no dead lines.

  5. Very interesting post. I am very careful what I put online. I’m very distrustful. We delay things for various reasons. Maybe we’re really waiting for the right moment. I do a similar thing and think about it a hundred times before deciding.

    • Thank you! We tend to convince ourselves there’s a right time for almost everything, and that right time never happens to be in the present. ?
      It’s a matter of balance, too wary or too reckless are both bad extremes. ?
