I am a huge fan of the technology rule, and it has to fill a need you have. I realize that I share many technology things that are beyond what people need today. But, I would like to point out that in blazing a trail, I am also helping you avoid the reality of trial and error with new tech. You will already have heard about the tech and what it will do for you before you see it in the market. The reason however today sharing this is that there are people that I look to for new technology ideas.
Some of them start crowdfunding campaigns. I spent a lot of time helping the people in the crowdfunding world understand the reality of business. Everyone with a great idea believes they will capture 100% of the market. That never happens, by the way. If you are really good and you have built the ultimate mousetrap, you may capture 60% of the market. You won’t keep that 60% of the market, though, if you only have one product. It is not the reality of 1.0 that kills most young companies. It is a reality of 2.0.
Today, I was reading a column from someone that I respect and trust when it comes to sharing future thinking. He, like myself, decries the concept of the futurist. He much prefers to be called a future strategist. In that role today, he proposed that the future of television was no longer streaming, was no longer cable, or Satellite. That the future of home television had moved to the new reality of convergence. His argument was you need some form of local weather. (ok I agreed with that). You need some form of local traffic (I agree), and finally, you need to know what issues are happening around you. His argument was the convergence is the future of TV. 3,4 channels to view from the cable company or phone company (that also provides your internet) the rest on the streaming services (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Apple and so on).
It is a very interesting idea, so I thought I would share it today!

I think personally that the overall pricing is going to end up being around 29.99 per month for the entire bundle (which is a reduction over what most people are paying today).
adoption is tricky for me, since I like robust platforms; preferably after an industry standard has been adopted…
well, in theory, the internet connection (ISP) service should be “wholly” standards-based (DSL, ADSL, Cable, Fiber, dialup, MPLS, PIP, or Ethernet.)
Phone service (POTS) is standardized.
The only thing at this point that really isn’t is the steaming service.
I would be curious, having reflected, what you would see as a standard for streaming video….
TCP/IP probably wouldn’t work, so then UDP is most likely the way to go
Distributed points throughout the network or do the Netflix/AWS model (fewer bigger streaming points)?
I don’t know enough to make that call, other than to observe the Netflix model seems to work
The issue with widely distributed applications is multiple points of failure. The Netflix model assumes everything is down.
Their software seems to have the ability to move between servers without a significant lag.
if your network was large enough, even if it wasn’t particularly robust, so long as it could identify lags and re-route, that might be feasible
It is part of the concept of software-defined networking. What is coming (AI focused on the intelligent movement of data) would do that easily.
that being the case, all you need is bandwidth and a half decent maintenance crew…

With 5g, this is a moot point.
The good tech crew is a bigger problem!

Users might overload 5g, but it would require different applications than we have today.
5g is going to blow people away. I used it in Downtown DC five times. I literally was able to move a 1.3 gig VM from my laptop to AWS in less than 10 minutes.

5g is such a different reality from what we’ve been used to. It changes everything.
It is the onset of the 4th industrial revolution!

It will be available nationally by the end of 2022.

That is hopefully a safe bet.
But, who knows.

The prices of these services are much lower in our country. I pay about 60 EUR per month (internet + television + landline + mobile phone)
It is even lower in some parts of Southeast Asia.
I am not sure the system is fair in terms of what it is charging.
I don’t do any streaming except from YouTube.
We have Apple tv and watch movies on there.
I suspect the bundling prices wouldn’t include AppleTV, but I could be completely wrong on that!

For me, the prices of these services are much lower. It may depend on the policy of the company offering them or the country in which we live. For Bulgarian TV I watch in Spain I pay 18 euros a month. For internet about 24 euro.
You are right in the range that the analyst said was coming. I wonder if he considered situations like yours!
I am a TV addict, but the commercials are driving me nuts. I realize they have their purpose but one commercial every five minutes is way too much. I like the idea of bundling the internet, regular TV and streaming but we do not have this option here yet… Anyway back to watching my show I go…
That bundling is coming – and frankly probably in less than 2 years.
Hmmm I don’t watch much TV. Once in a while I watch the news and If any current season of Master chef is being aired.
