Technology wander, lots of stuff~

I sent the updated Community FAQ to the admin team. Hopefully, they will respond. I did ask them to verify and validate what we as a community, believed to be true! I will let you know if I hear from the team!

One of the things I’ve been doing over the past few days is trying out a headset from Polycom (actually the company is called Poly now.) I will share a review in the next couple of weeks.

I’ve been considering things to get rid of and things I don’t use anymore. Does anyone have a system that works? My old system was if I don’t use it in the past year to get rid of it, but that meant I got rid of most of the things I don’t use as often. All that is left are things I use on occasion. I guess based on that I need a new system.

Today’s hodgepodge is over, the wander project permeates my mind sometimes, and I wander all over the place.

Yesterday I was driving through the back area of where I live, watching the hay rollers. Back in Indiana, I used to occasionally bale hay and move those bales to the barn. Watching them create great big rolls of hay were incredible. On the way to work, there were four in the field, when I drove home, there were 12 in the field, and I have to say it was amazing. I pulled over and watched for a couple of minutes on the way home. What a cool machine. Farmers have cool tech that is for sure!

I remember my dad’s tractor, and it was pretty low tech: just a steering wheel and a mower attachment. Now tractors have GPS, touch screens and multiple other technologies including in some cases Satellite radio!!! My grandfather had a smaller tractor, but he also had a trailer hitch on it. That way we could pull the boat down the hill and put it into the lake every year.

My apologies for today’s hodge-podge tech column. Will let the community know if things change or I hear about update FAQ!

  1. I have never seen a digitised tractor. I’m curious how the advanced technological tractors look like.
The admins haven’t yet responded? Or, was it to be expected? But the good thing you sent them our hopes. In time, they will work on them.

  4. how about if you have more than one of something and you haven’t used it in over a year, then you can get rid of it? that way you still have at least one…

  5. I was about to comment it was a hotch potch post and you have said it already?

There is no hard and fast rule what to discard and what to keep. Some things are meant to stay permanently. Some have sentimental value and some ‘what if I need them’ kind of.

  7. Cannot picture you baling hay. I miss the farmers in the field that is now covered with houses behind me. But I grew up around farms and tractors.

    • it has been more than 30 years since I last bailed hay. I guess at this point there are many more years when I didn’t bale hay, than the 5 years my parents did hay on the farm!
