Tech Wiz on the reality of new stats for Virily!

There are a few things that I know are important to me over the years. Ethics is one of them. Ethics is all about not just how you treat other people but your reaction to that as well. I know that it is important both how you treat people but also how you react to people. I am far from perfect, I know but I do try. Trying is the best we can ever do. All of this comes from my thinking about influencers on blog sites. For example, one of the things you could get from the Admins at Niume if you asked and waited was who impacted your posts the most. I would love to get or see that for Virily. The reason has nothing to do with suddenly no longer following writers. It is more to understand what posts are impacting what people.

I do not interact with users that are abusive. I don’t interact with users that try to avoid the rules. In both of those cases, it is part of my ethical view of the world.

Based on that considering my theme I would love to see the following stats from Virily.

  1. People that read my post and bring other readers with them.
  2. People that read my post and bring the community with them.
  3. People who use punctuation marks (more than 5) in their comments. I want to sort these so I can ignore them.
  4. People who copy and paste comments. (same deal ignore these).

I have roughly an hour in the morning and an hour at lunch. I don’t have a huge amount of time to spend beyond responding to legitimate comments and interacting with authors whose posts I want to read. I do understand that my time is important. I also understand that when I read and comment on somebodies post, I want them to know that I took the time to read the post and comment on the post. It bothers me when I post a heartfelt blog, and the comments are all “nice pictures.” Thanks for that, I will respond to many people when they do that, but it bothers me a little.

I know this is my issue, but it is something important to me.

      • Yes, I am. I am weighing whether I will earn here more than I earn in myLot. As long as there will be people to interact with maybe I will stay. However it is taking quite some time to approve the articles that I wrote.

        • That can be frustrating at times (how long it takes to approve articles). It used to be worse they have gotten a lot better. I was at one point about 14 articles behind (what was published, and what was in my queue).

  1. I am considering leaving Virily again. The reason is that my posts are not listed in Latest. They are put for some time on the top (latest stories) and then disappear. I wrote to support but no answer. It frustrates me.
About comments, I better write nothing than leave any meaningful comment. But I always try to read all the posts that catch my attention, I open a lot of posts and read those which looks interesting to me, I do not read all of them, simply I have not so much time for this.
And I would agree to have the option to see who read my posts and who shared.

    • I can understand the argument about leaving or not leaving. Your points are well taken. I didn’t know about your posts not being in latest. That is frustrating. There is a facebook group started by Norman D. called the Virily Users Group. The admins of the site wander by that group from time to time. You might try joining that to see if you get a response.

  2. I think we have all considered leaving at one time or another. Those are the times I need a break. I just never take it. I try to be nice to everyone, if I get nothing in return, their loss I suppose. I feel m most do not read my posts. I feel a lot only look at the photos. I have proven that before, like you do… post a photo then write about something else. You get comments about the photo and nothing about what you wrote. Frustrating. But it is what is it when you are wiring online.

    • I know, for example, that there are many who read what I post. There are many that don’t. They are chasing the comment viril.

If push came to shove, I would love to see all the non-creation virils go away. Then you would get legitimate comments.

  3. I feel your concerns Doc! This post is like all your other ones. They leave one thinking about how they feel about the topic. I try to treat others how I would want to be treated. I wish more people would read my posts, but I keep trying to make a difference here. I will always stay as long as it is running which I hope keeps on going.

  4. Hmm… I see where you’re coming from.
I think showing who shared your posts will be a great features … but I don’t think Virily will try and implement the other features especially those “negative” ones…
It’s rather easy to overshoot the 5 punctuation limit, I’d say…

    • Yeah, one can dream, right? I mean how hard is it to set up a filter that says if you do this …………………………………………. we don’t allow it.

      • Oh, haha!! I thought you’re saying 5 punctuation in total.. Notice I’ve about 5 punctuation in this sentence already, alone?
“………………….” is an obvious spam! but then … if they’re blocked, we’ll get “asdwdscsfe” instead … either way spam are hard to get rid
I’d rather they work on useful features (for the users first) like the one I mentioned above
