Swimming in the lake

During my visit to Bohinj, I was walking for some time by the lake. This is a real place to relax. During the observation of a lake in which a lot of fish and ducks floated, I noticed that visitors already floated in the lake. I was surprised because it is known that the water in the lake is also cold in the summer. The water temperature was only 17 degrees Celsius. The lake lies in the glacial valley and is a distinct flowing lake. Only one-tenth of the lake is less than 10 m deep and 80% is deeper than 20 m, 20% is even 40 m. Maximum depth is 45 m. In winter, the surface water is cooled and the lake can freeze. I certainly would not swim in the lake because it’s too cold for me.

  1. I have swum in Jellicoe pools when it was 16 degrees C.swimming forwards is fine but on your back, not for me.
I think I would give it a miss at 16 degrees C unless I had a wet suit on

  2. Lakes are often cold. My summers were spent swimming in a man-made lake when I was little and when the weather was hot you got used to the water and it felt just fine.
