Some interesting Virily Stats and today's weather!

1. The rate to 100 views appears to have changed (I watch four authors see how quickly they get 100 views on posts) the rate to 100 has slowed for most authors on the site. There are exceptions.

2. The number of posts that have more than five comments and replies (deep comment thread) appears to be declining.

3. I’ve noticed (has anyone else?) a significant pick up in Twitter views (you find your twitter views by going to your twitter dashboard). In July I was average 120 views per tweet. (tweeting Virily concent) most of the views don’t give you Virils, but it is nice to know your work is getting viewed, right?

I have noticed some other trends as well, I keep an eye on those and will share them as they have enough data. While I have not done a quiz in a long time, it appears (please let me know in the comments) that the template is working better. We still have the annoying, select poll, load picture and before you your content in, you have to refresh the page issue.

Some writers are once again more active on the site. I am going to apologize to everyone, I am limited on time and only read between 30 and 35 posts per day. I can’t afford to spend more time than that. If I miss one of your posts, I am sorry. Nothing personal just ran out of time in the morning. I try to catch up with all the ones I’ve missed on the weekend.

The comment depth concerns me a little. It is something that impacts all of us in terms of how much revenue each post generates. That is something that I am watching and will continue to share and talk about in the future.

Bunch of poll questions as we head into fall!!

Today’s weather – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nujBwXGo0I4 link to yesterday’s weather feed.

(I share this on Mylot as well) I’ve been predicting yesterday’s weather via video time-lapse replay for more than three years now. I have yet to incorrectly predict the weather that was yesterdays! Outside right now in the DC area – 59 degrees F, no measurable rain in the last 24 hours.

    • well if you have setup paypal you have to have 10 dollars in your Virily account before they will pay.

If you did payoneer, you have to have 100 dollars in your account first.

  1. Hummm, most of my views don’t come from twitter, some do. I get a lot of people who just come over from my blog and they can’t comment. Part of the reason I do polls is because they can participate on those. I get views from flipboard, I know because it gives me a report.

I find that very few people comment on most of my posts. (I must be a terrible conversationalist.)

Yes, I have a rule of thumb on comments. If someone comments on my post in a positive matter, I immediately go look for 5 of theirs that I have not commented on and make a comment on them. I figure someday it may come full circle if not at least perhaps they feel good about some interaction.

Yes, I like the interaction and yes I like the pennies we make. I happen to think we are stronger together.

I am typically the odd man out.

  3. There is a limit on how much I can do on Virily but I do my best to answer comments on my posts…I will try my best to do that but no guarantees…
    I do enjoy reading people’s posts…

  4. Thanks for sharing the stat. You are really observant. I usually come to Virily whenever I have some time to spare, and I usually just read and write here, but don’t really spend much time watching the traffic. I really appreciate to find out so much about Virily from you and other users here.

It’s already Saturday here. Have a good weekend!

    • you have a great weekend as well. I try to watch the stats for short runs. Otherwise I have to cut down on the posts I read.

Plus you have kids at home – I remember those days!

  5. Thank you, Doc for the information. Eventually, I will figure it all out right now I do as much as I can and give them bunches to review and approve so that I can come here when I have the time between my writing, looking for writing jobs, and blogging

  6. Creating a quiz requires numerous refreshing and saving every question as a draft. I start by saving the post’s photo the every question. Sometimes the choices disappear. It requires patience.

    • It is interesting- like you I am limited on time. I try to catch up on the weekends, but that never happens.

I wonder if there would be a way for the site to help us be better readers.

Well, I know there is, but I also suspect they won’t make the changes.

      1
        • well that is one I have chased for a long time. I see lots of authors with wonderful stories that I figure will become trending quickly, that never move at all.

some that I look at and they are trending right away.

  7. Actually reading this very informative coverage is very fun and useful, although unfortunately I rarely touch social media these days (less often than before) for various reasons, and that’s why I missed you so much, Doc!

The air was very hot until the beginning of this week, but last Tuesday and Thursday it had rained to cool the Jakarta air, at least in part.

    2
    • i have missed you, pal! I do understand the reality of time constraints!

I remember landing in Jakarta 16 years ago in a rainstorm.
Then leaving Jakarta 4 days later in a rainstorm!

  8. I have had a about ten posts sitting in the pending list until now. I wish approvals were faster and regular during the week. The trends really don’t matter when these is no equal base level to compare.

  9. I have a problem in assessing Twitter traffic because I alternate promotional tweets with favourite quotes, and it is the latter that get far more views! My current stats say that I have had 3 million impressions in the last 28 days, but I have no idea how many of these can be related to Virily!

  10. I hope to have more time soon on here to comment more in depth, and f/up comments as well. I try to comment on too many posts. there are so many new members here. But I need to pace myself.

  11. I am delighted to be able to present you with comment No. 2!

I suppose the answer to this conundrum is that interesting posts will provoke more comments than boring ones! What counts as interesting? It would seem that posts that talk about the shortcomings of Virily are always going to be interesting!

    • I have deep comment threads on non- virily issue posts as well. I think it depends on the people and how much time they have.

It has declined over the past couple of months.
