Setting up an appointment by phone

I always advise people to text when making an appointment instead of calling by phone. The rationale is the text can serve as the proof of the date and time and place of the appointment. Calling can usually be forgotten and worse can be mistaken for the wrong date or place.

When my wife celebrated her birthday in a restaurant, we were waiting for a niece who later called to ask where we are. She was in another restaurant. Fortunately my wife had texted her the informal invitation so the place and time was there. She is lucky that the wrong restaurant was just near the correct restaurant.
