Scorpion ~ 365 Photos Challenge #336 – 337

The rain yesterday wet the mat on the terrace which was then placed under the carport tap to be washed if there was the sun. This morning, before washing the car, I intended to wash the mat. But when I intended to widen the damp mat that folded something black pulled my eyes.

Hmmm… A scorpion seems to be enjoying the darkness and humidity in the middle of the mat. I ran quickly, not out of fear but to take the camera. Now, look at him! So handsome isn’t it?

If I think of a scorpion who has the ability to fast during his hibernation period, he likes to stay in dark slits as a place of refuge, a hidden place that makes them much more comfortable, with sting that are considered dangerous then must be shunned, accustomed to living in harsh realms, not moving much, and being resigned to the intimidation of predators or killers like humans, I see it all as characters from spiritualists, whether it’s from adherents of certain mysticism or not.

  • Have you ever seen a scorpion around you?

    • Yes

  1. Well all I have to say Albert, I am happy to live where there are no scorpions to sting me or my Runty Dumpty (my cat). Oh we have spiders, garter snakes, bees, wasps and other types of bugs but no scorpion. Ouf… I hope that Blue and Susie never come face to face with one of those because as cats they can be very curious and you know the saying “curiosity killed the cat”. I hope that Blue is staying healthy and playful… Say hi to him for me….

    • Yes, it’s safer to be in an environment without scorpions. But each choice has its own consequences and risks, right?

So far Susie and her friends are out there who love hunting lizards, chameleons, lizards, grasshoppers, etc. had never met a scorpion. But as far as I know, cats are one of the animals that are reliable in playing with and overcoming scorpions.

Susie and Blue are great. Blue, hmmm… He is always hungry and has eaten so much lately.

I have conveyed Your Hi to Blue.

    • I always applicate the Javanese philosophy “Always aware and alert”. In the neighborhood where I live today, there are still many types of snakes and other animals. About two meters from where I’ve ever found the scorpion, I once found a cobra.
