Saw a local cuisine, Malaysian Cuisine when travelling to oversea, New Zealand
I wondered what can we order here? Curry Rice (Nasi Lemak)? Wonton Noodle? Chapatti?
I don’t know because I afraid eating local cuisine at foreign country is always expensive. What do you think?

I’d be curious if I see a restaurant from my cuisine abroad, but I prefer to taste the country’s traditional dishes.
I would definitely try and visit a restaurant.
To my mind, it’s so great when you meet a local cuisine in foreign country!!! For example, was very glad to see our Russian pancakes in Finland!!!
It certainly feels good when we see a local cuisine in another country. I am not sure if I will enter the restaurant. If I am only there for traveling, perhaps I won’t, as I think the food might be better in our own country and as you said, it’s more expensive in foreign country too. But if I am there for years, then perhaps I’ll miss the food from my own country and I might enter the restaurant. 🙂
I love eating local cuisine in foreign countries because I would like to know if the authenticity the cuisine is preserved or if it has blended with the local cuisine of that country and was it successful.
It’s hard to preserved the authenticity because hard to source the ingredient in oversea, I supposed.
I rarely travel but I hope you all enjoy!
Thanks Carol, it was taken last year when I travelled to New Zealand.
i loved traveling, but honestly, the American food restaurants (McDonalds and KFC) often made me sad. Not that they existed outside the US, but that people believe that represents what the US is.
McDonalds and KFC are existed here, my kids love KFC more because they like fried chickens.
yeah they are global. it is sadly not the US.
We typically cook our own where ever we may go.
Cook during the trip too? We cooked a lot at those high expenses country.
I have been on several foreign package tours and we are always taken to Indian restaurants. We do miss our food and therefore we welcome it.
Yes, the tourist agency is very take care of us, will bring us for local food at least once during the trip.
