Magnolia blooms are actually saucer sized. The birds, as well as hummingbirds, flock to the magnolia tree when it is in bloom. The dark green leaves make a nice contrast with the big saucer sized white blooms.
Duding the summer I go out and pick up the big leaves as they are not good for the lawnmower. But I don’t mind. It is so worth it to have this evergreen tree in my yard.
It is always green. And the tree grows taller every year. I would like to have more magnolia trees.

We have a few varieties of magnolias here. But none of them have saucer sized blooms. They smell like heaven though.
Yes they do smell sweet, that is what attracts the birds especially hummingbirds.

The tree is massive, it has grown so fast in the yard.
