My interest in Sacagawea may come from where I was raised and a great Montana History teacher when I was in middle school. We didn’t learn a lot a about great women in school as I was growing up, but Mr. Cook thought Sacagawea was an amazing person and it was a way to draw us right into the history.
I kept the information he provided in a scrapbook. I was really impressed. Here are few things that still make me smile when I think about Sacagawea. There are two lakes, four mountains, and even a river that have been named after Sacagawea. (I wonder how many people say her name differently?)
Sacagawea traveled 5,000 miles (10,000 km) with her infant son. Sacagawea joined the expedition when her son, Jean Baptiste, was 55 days old. We don’t often think of how hard it would have been do all she did and take care of an infant.
She didn’t marry because she was in love. The man won her on a bet.

What a wonderful piece. Your care and love for Sacagawea is evident. I could not imagine traveling that far with a tiny infant. There are times with the twins I struggle driving with them to the gas station.
ooh waoo nice shoes!!!
I have now read about this woman’s life. It’s a sad story.
