Rose for my Dad

Happy Birthday to my Dad. He would have turned 87 today. I lost him two years ago. Still miss him every singe day. Thankfully I have many good memories to hold onto.

This raindrop rose is being shared just for him. Tiny rain drops remind me of tiny tears. Only because he is missed so very much. When you love someone who dies, tears will visit often. I embrace the tears and move on to a good memory. He had such a good sense of humor. Always made me laugh.

Below is a strawberry my Dad planted and he was so proud to see the first fruit when I visited a few years ago.

The squirrel photo is funny as well. He tried his best to keep them away from the bird feeder. He finally gave in and said, well they have to eat too.

Love you Dad!

  1. I know that losing a dad hurts. It is not one that goes away. It stays with you. Celebrating dad’s birthday is hard for me because it is the same as the Twins. Father’s day is also hard for me, I have the gift I bought to send to him the year he died. I can’t throw it away, but there is nowhere for it to go.

The pain does reduce though, with the passing of the years. It is nearly five now for us, less painful but still miss him.

Your picture of the squirrel, focusing on happy memories, is spot on!!!!

    • Yes it hurt in so many ways Doc. I took care of all of his business even being 6 hours away. We talked every day, sometimes more than once a day. About everything. Thankfully I was with him when he passed.

Sorry you also know of the pain. It does not go away.

The squirrel photo always makes me smile.

  2. Happy memories help us sojourn on though we should learn from the bad ones. It’s touching how you remember your dad physically

  3. I feel you my friend, I too lost my dad a year ago, I miss him so much too. It’s painful losing someone you love but eventually we have to accept, let go and move on with what they left to us, those are the memories. They will always have a place in our hearts.
