Red, White and Blue Treat

I love to bring treats to social events and here July mean red, white and blue. I had a tough time getting this done just right. My family had to eat a lot of ugly, but tasty pretzels before I got it right. Hopefully your skills are better than mine if you want to give them a try.

*12 large pretzel rods

*red food coloring

*blue food coloring

*white star sprinkles

*2 cups white chocolate chips

*2 cups plain Greek yogurt

*double boiler

*pastry bag (tip for drawing lines)

* two baking sheets covered with parchment paper

*freezer space for one baking sheet

In the double boiler, over low heat melt the white chocolate chips. When the chips are totally melted remove them from the heat and and whisk in the Greek yogurt. You want a smooth mixture.

I like to have enough of the pretzel without coating to use to hold and finish off the treat with just the salty pretzel. Determine how much of a handle you want and dip each pretzel in the mixture and lay on the parchment paper. Put them in the freezer for one hour and thirty five minutes.

Take ½ cup of the remaining mixture and put it in a second bowl and tint it red. Carefully spoon it into your pastry bag.  Tint the rest of the mixture blue.

Remove the rods from the freezer. Dip the top ¼ into the blue yogurt to coat it. Carefully place your white star sprinkles on the blue. Lay on the second sheet covered with parchment paper. After all the pretzels have the blue top, the stars placed and are laying next to each other, pipe on the red lines on the white portion of the pretzel. Place in the freezer for one hour and thirty five minutes.

Now you will have a fun and pretty little dessert to bring to take the to picnic.
