Raising Pirate Families

One place that pirate’s enjoyed visiting is the Ile Sainte-Marie, now also known as Nosy Boraha off the west coast of Madagascar. It includes a pirates’ cemetery with graves marked with a skull and crossbones.

In pirate days this was the place many of them came for rest and relaxation. It was a small island enjoyed by such as William Kidd or Captain Kidd. Unruly sailors would stop by to and during the 17th and 18th centuries St. Mary’s Island, as it was known then was just the place for pirates to un-stress. They would take time off between looting the ships sailing upon the Indian Ocean. Some even settled down to raise families.
