Promises

Promises are statements that give hope to the hearer and add responsibility to the giver. A promise made or a word given is never to be broken. When it is broken the person who gave the promises really did have any respect for what he or she said. He or she was not a man/woman of her /his words. When promises are broken they break trust, hearts and possibly futures.

When I see the rainbow I am reminded of promises. When promises are kept trust grows, relationship grow stronger and sometimes it is for life.

A promise gives hope and meaning to lives. However, I hear these words often,

Promises are made to be broken.

Promises are the sweetest lies.

I wonder if have people change or has our values changed so much that even the saying have changed with time.

  1. You’ve touched upon an interesting topic.

I would ask you, what promises are critical to keep?

To me, the question of promises, the question of words is the honor of each of us. As authors, we are responsible not only for the impact of what we write but also of the impact of how we say things.

words have meaning. We teach that to children. So many forget.

    • If we cannot honor our own words we lose respect for ourselves in our own eyes. We need to be people of our words and yes its important to teach our children those values.

  2. I am not a person who promises much, dear Dawn …. I think carefully before I promise anything and if I make a promise I also fulfill it
