Poll: Pizza Anyone?

Pizza is prepared and served in many different countries around the world. In the United States, pizza is undoubtedly the single most popular kind of food. It is also the most purchased food in restaurants, with the possible exception of fast-food hamburgers.

For a time, I worked as a manager at a pizza parlor and it gave me some interesting insights into the attitudes that Americans have about pizza. However, attitudes and opinions change over time and it has been decades since I managed the parlor.

I still make my own dough and sauce from scratch. I find premade pizzas seriously lacking in flavor, though they are indeed convenient. It strikes me that premade, packaged pizza at a grocery store is way over-priced for what you get. Speaking from experience, pizzas sold in pizza parlors also tend to be very over-priced from a cost perspective, though I’ll also admit that few people are able to buy the toppings in bulk.

This poll is in regard to your thoughts about pizzas.

  1. You have a good point. That is the reason I make my own dough and sauce. The pizza won’t be better than the quality of what it is made with.

  2. I make mine using sprouted flour in a counter top appliance by Gourmia called their Robotic Oven. I bought it mainly for stir fry because it has a motorized arm that keeps the ingredients moving, but the arm comes out and then it is the best appliance I have for baking.

  3. I prefer wood oven pizza, and I don’t have a wood oven at home, that’s the actual reason I prefer to buy pizza than making it at home. 😀

But my mother dislike pizza… she say its “so bread” so we hardly order…

But I still eat it sometimes when I’m out!!

    • That is pretty easy to get around. I’ve made pizza for people who also felt that it was too bready. I simply rolled the crust thin and piled on the toppings. The pizza probably weighed three pounds, but only about a quarter to a half-pound of that was crust. The rest was sauce, cheese, and toppings.

  5. I love pizza but only eat it every now and then. I usually order out only because it is convenient and it is delicious. I have made my own as well.

  6. Great poll, and I matched it every time lol. I love pizza! We buy spinach and goat cheese pizza that has fire roasted tomatoes on it. This is store bought! Just love it! We eat it at least twice a week.
