People have kept pet dogs and cats for thousands of years. There are many different breeds of each that are normally kept as a pet and it isn’t uncommon for people to have multiple dogs, several cats, or even a mixture of cats and dogs.
There are also people who are unable to have a cat or a dog for one reason or another. Some people even get around this by feeding stray cats or dogs. Yet, nearly everyone has a preference between the two. This is understandable and it can be summed up rather neatly, though there are naturally variations.
Cats tend to be independent and although many are quite loving, they often seem to like to meet the world on their terms only. Cats can be lazy or active, and they can have very distinct personality traits. Usually, though, it is quite difficult to get a cat to do what it doesn’t want to do.
Dogs are normally dependent on their person. They are often exceptionally loyal and commonly give their love unconditionally. They are expressionate like cats are, but this usually manifests itself in different ways. Most dogs will do things they don’t want to do, in an attempt to please their person.
The question is: Are you a cat person, dog person, both equally, or neither?

I love all animals, but I have more cats than dogs from practical reasons- my yard is small and I am at the crossroads of two busy streets.
Yeah, that wouldn’t be the best place to have a bunch of dogs. I take it that the cats are indoor cats?
Of course, they are indoor cats. I made a kind of a cage by putting mesh wire on the whole balcony and that’s all I could do. They are all street cats I rescued in order to make their lives better and safer.
I like them both. I cant compare the two or pick between them. They are so different. I love Meika although she isnt all dog.. hum,,shes more like a cat. My cats are more like dogs.. I think our blended family works well together. Meika is the pack leader, followed by my oldest female cat, then my moms chihuahua, and then the other two cats. lol
That sounds rather familiar. LOL
I do like both, but I have to say I prefer a dog. That said, I’ve been keeping one cat after another for many years, yet it’s yonks since I had a dog. Practicalities.
I’ve heard a sure way to find out who loves you most is to lock your partner, your dog and your cat in the car boot (the part at the back – can’t remember the American word for it). Let them out after half an hour and see which one is most pleased to see you 😉
Dont go locking your poor kitty in a car “trunk” giggles. The cat would pick whichever one didnt lock him in a car boot. silly.
The more usual scenario is to lock just your dog and your girlfriend in the boot for 30 minutes, then watch which is the happiest to see you when you release them :p (Okay, I won’t put the cat in, as it might be a bit crowded in there!)
lol I bet the dog would be more happy, now the gf,, is another story. hahaa
What I find interesting is that we have cats and dogs. The little dog I had for a decade passed away last year, but one of the cats we still have acted as if the dog was HIS pet. Most of the time, the dog accepted the cat’s attention, too.
Pets can have pets! Meika has lily the cat, she bonded with Meika and Meika used to let her nurse her. no milk but still.
I like dogs since I grew up with many of them. Now that my relatives have cats in this home. I like cats too.

I like dogs better than cats since dogs like me better than the majority of cats in the home who are scared of me.

I’ve got a sign just inside the front door that says, “I had to get rid of my kids. The cats were allergic.” LOL

Even though I have two cats, I have had dogs in the past and love them all.
I have both currently, though my little dog died a year ago. I can understand loving them both.
Sad to lose a pet, they become members of the family. I have lost my share.
