Love ItLove It

Perplexed….

If you actually know the answer I would love to know it too! I ask and ask. I seek knowledge. I am trying and getting tired of beating my head on a wall. I have spent very little time on the site today and have been commenting. Since I don’t understand the spam rule at all, I think I may be out of comments and I have viewed very few new posts.

I believe that replying to comments is very important and I think dialogue has great value. Am I really only allowed 50 comments a day and then they begin “docking” my pay? Because if that is the case they should rethink it.

If they want people to be engaged and on the site, they should be able to have dialogue,  but limit copycat completely spam comments.

I would volunteer to be the unpaid spam comment finder. Yes I am serious.

(P.S. If you don’t get a comment I am not ignoring you. I have reached my limit… MAYBE)

  1. From what I can tell yes is the correct answer to the first question, though there is more to the definition of spam. As someone already mentioned, it also has to do with using the comments feature to try to market something.

Haven’t tried to contact administrators. I do have questions about the way things work but am still new so am wading in bit by bit. I see that members want more info on how many virils generate a payout, why there are limits to comments, and more. If I can see those comments, administrators can as well and I expect they are working toward checking out the issues. If they are ignoring them then people will not stick with the site. Time will surely tell.

The rules (FAQs) need to be updated. From what I can tell they don’t all match the facts of how the site works now.

  2. I think it’s a question of manners to replay on every comment and can’t see why it would be a problem. Why to limit comments per day? There’s already limit in number of comments and who cares if it’s fulfilled in a day or in a week?

    • When changes are made and people are not told what or how things are suppose to work, they go elsewhere. Perhaps they will learn something from the lower participation and do some kind of informational post on their vision and what they are trying to accomplish. I know many who have left the site and I can’t blame them. There is no communication.

  3. I would say a spam comment can be a referral link or someone trying to get you to buy or sign up for something. But it can also be thought of as a generic comment that adds no value to the post or has been said by many people (maybe in slightly different words). Like for quizzes for example, many people just comment with how many questions they got right or wrong. That doesn’t add much value. It would be nice if there was a score sheet where people can see the quiz scores of those that took it.

  4. Is a spam comment generic and not related to the post?

    Yes and no.
    It depends on situations.

And yes, I wasn’t able to get an answer from the admins/support via the chat. I haven’t emailed them.

I was still confused with their constant changes and these changes are never made known to the users. If there is a need for upgrading, they could post a notification or announcement to all and get them to backup. On the other hand, the site should do a db backup and test their site remotely before uploading the upgrade to avoid these hiccups.

    • Oh yeah, I’ve zero ideas about the comment limit thingy other than the 20 characters minimum.

I was thinking is that why Virily seems much quieter these days?

      • That looming statement that if you make over 50 comments they start taking away from your little “v” account makes me wonder.

It seems like lack of consistency and communication.

For example, no answers to questions.
A verified writer can post a story with only 81 characters and if you are just writing for the sight it must be at least 100. Hummm.

I think many are discouraged and packed their bags.

        • Oh, I didn’t know any of these … is it on the site?
I could have many taken from my account … :/ I try to reply most of the comments people left me. Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

Hmm… they probably want to discourage spam (like someone copy and pasting 1 to 2 liners ads all over) … but since they’re manually accepting/rejecting posts, that could be a little redundant.

I’ve noticed the site got a little quiet these few days … I guess we still need to wait a few days and see how things turn out
