Paying it Forward

Some of you know that I don’t generally participate in challenges on here. Today I was asked from another source  if I would participate in a  pay it forward challenge.  I truly believe that ordinary people can make a difference in someone’s world by paying it forward. Paying it forward is not something I do once in awhile, it’s part of my lifestyle.

One of my mentors said that when you pay it forward you should shout it from the rooftops. I questioned his wisdom. Somehow it felt like bragging.  His response was this. “You do your first act probably in secret and then you share it because people need ideas. People need to be inspired. Become and idea generator so your one act of paying it forward becomes 1000 acts of others doing the same.” In that spirit, here are a few ways to pay it forward.

Ask for donations instead of gifts.

Donate your books.

Leave a good book behind.

Listen to someone’s story.

Pray for someone in need.

Spend some time with the elderly.

Pay someone an honest compliment.
