I started my WordPress blog more than 14 years ago now. It was a monthly, then weekly and finally daily blog as I moved from 2005 to 2008. Blogging is a personal “passion of mine.” Based on that there are a couple of tools that I often use that I don’t always talk about. One of those tools is Microsoft Word. I normally start my blogs in Word and then paste them into the window either WordPress or Virily. I have however recently installed the new Apache Open Office product to try. I am impressed with the overall ability of the newest version of the Open Office solution. I’ve also been trying the Google Apps more lately, with both the spreadsheet and WordPress core.
That does bring me back to when I moved from WordStar to Wordperfect. From 1985 to 1987 I only used the now long gone WordStar. I moved to the WordPerfect product for a few years. The reason for those two programs was that they were the more Macintosh Focused. I was a Mac user predominantly back then. Microsoft Word was available, but I much preferred WordStar. I only used WordPerfect for a year or so. Then I moved to a mix of Macintosh for my BBS and the PC for Microsoft Office. I was running a First Class GUI based BBS (Bulletin Board Service) for awhile from 1990 to 1993. My wife still complains about the sound a modem makes as it connects. I only had one phone line for the BBS so it wasn’t heavily used.
It is interesting to me when I consider the evolution of technology. I remember working with companies in the ’90s, that would have PC’s in accounting, executive offices, and technical support. But their marketing and publishing departments would always be Macintosh driven. Back then the Apple world was more focused on artists and creators. Now, Apple has moved closer, and the PC has much more artistic software than it did in the past. Now the split is pretty even as far as functionality in both accounting and artistic. So you can use what you like rather than what you are told to use! Feel free to comment on your computer journey in the comment section. It is incredibly interesting overall!

I am familiar with some of it and some of it I am not familiar. But wow, your WordPress is ooold.
yeah in blogging years I am like a 300 years old blogger 🙂
Lol! I suspected so ?. Apology that I cannot check in your posts here frequently. Work duties and such. Plus the FB bans made me shy away from the platform for a while. I was at the point of just shutting it down but I got a sign from the Universe that made me reconsider my move. ?
That is all we can ever do, wait for and receive the messages the universe sends us!
Most of these brands are new to me. Though I know Apple but I don’t own one. I have an Asus and Lenovo. I have a blog which is just 5 months old. I visited your blog, and, wow it is 10 years old.
I started writing a long time ago. ASUS is a great computer company as is Lenovo.
I do not get to know the best computer science, so this is for me all the stranger
Computers are interesting, even if we don’t use them, they are still all around us!
For me personally, they are a miracle … I’m a little older and some things are a complete stranger … I’m good to have great help
I have been chasing technology for many years now. I still love to change. But, when you are immersed it is a different experience.
This is good … I have never had any special joy to computers … and I do not even care today … it is important for me to know these basic things … and so with all the technique .. I do not know the phones
Well done! Nice post!
Thanks Georgi, I am glad you like the post!

how well I remember my 80386-33 and how much I hated those showboating pentiums with more than double my clock speed and faster architecture to boot…
the p60 baby!
I worked at MSFT back then. we used to laugh because other than NT, the OS (win 98) couldn’t really take advantage of the new chips.
Clearly I have no tech skills, or memories. Sorry!
that is not a negative. As my friend always says, it isn’t about knowledge, it is about showing up!
Again a lot of new information for me. I do not remember my first computer. The beginnings of my work on the computer started at work.
It would depend on the time period as to what you were using then!
80-95 were the days of i286, i386 and the initial offering from apple the 80836
95 to 200 was the Pentium
now we have evolved to much faster chips.
I think we got the first computers at work in 80 years. At home, I began to use my computer much later
In the days before windows! DOS!!!! I lived in the Disk Operating System World as an IT person and it was hard sometimes.
Seems like I started with a Compaq in the late 90’s, then a HP for medical transcription at home, then around 2000 or so I bought a Sony VAIO. Now I use a Mac and an iPhone.
Your journey through the medical world was heavily dominated by PC’s. The mac is really stable and the integration with the iPhone makes it amazing!
I remember the first time I used a PC just to play games in the late 80s, which I had forgotten the name of.
I’ve also blogged but only for a few moments with its contents which less than ten articles.
I suspect most people of today have a faster computer as their smartphone than we had in the 80’s!
Of course, Doc. That is the general reality of all of us today. Something unimaginable at that time.
We were thinking (I worked at Microsoft during the i486 chip days and Pentium days) of ways to modify the way the code worked with the chip. It wasn’t until we got pure 64 bit computing that we were able to figure new paths.
Now the argument is the placement of data. It probably should have been that, 20 years ago.
There is no doubt that you are very technologically proficient!
Thank you for the kind words, Albert.
You are very much welcome, Doc.
