Love ItLove It

One of the lessons astrology taught me

The photo was taken by me, there’s a jackdaw on the left and a pigeon on the right.

Plenty of fog, too.

I don’t approach astrology in a heavy way, I mostly enjoy observing the interpretations given to the celestial bodies and check if they apply.

I don’t really understand how astrology works, how stars and planets placed far away can affect our lives somehow. The luminaries, sun and moon, might make sense but what about Saturn? Why would Saturn matter, for instance?

It is not always like this, I sometimes seek advice and think of astrology as a friend. It’s quite refreshing, it doesn’t hurt as long as I don’t let it affect my life too much.

Interpretations aside, there’s one thing that sticks out during “our conversations”.

What is it? Differences, how people differ from each other, but on a deeper level.

Just like it happens for other “shallow” things, such as age, gender or ethnicity, astrology attempts to gather people into groups and describe their characteristics.

This “deeper level” has to do with personality, just like psychology. It doesn’t just affect our behavior, but our needs as well.

When it comes to interacting with others, it’s important to get to know them. Unfortunately, it’s hard. Why? Because we aren’t always able to relate with the way others think or feel. It’s something out of our control and it’s often frustrating.

Eventually, we get to the point we just give up. It is not the end but a new start: learning how to let go, accepting there are things we’ll never comprehend.

It doesn’t mean we have to withdraw from all social interactions but simply approach them with an open mind. We can learn from each interaction if we open our minds to that. We can learn about others, as well as ourselves.

However, communication is key. We can’t expect others to guess how we think or feel, and we can’t guess what goes on someone else’s mind.

We might think we know, but do we really know?

I’ve always been an introvert but I came to realize how helpful it is to speak and let others know instead of letting them guess. It can help avoid misunderstandings and, at best, it saves connections and relationships.

The latest example that came to my attention these days has to do with apology.

This topic deserves a post on its own. I noticed how difficult it is for some to accept they hurt someone. Why can’t people be sorry? I don’t think it matters if it was right or wrong to be offended. It happened. Again, this is content for another post. Enough for now.

  1. I do know that most people are different and sometimes we need to recognise the difference but communication helps a lot. If we were all the same, this world would be a very boring place to live but then we need to be able to connect too.
As far as astrology is concerned, it probably does have some influence but only to a certain point. I am far different to my brother in law with the same star sign and I get on very well with people who are not supposed to get on with me…
I think a lot more comes into where we live what we love and something outside our comfort zone,,,culture and all sorts of things… and when we were born etch…

    • Yes, that’s very true. Well, there’s more than just the Sun (star) sign when it comes to astrology, and there’s definitely more than astrology itself, as we grow and become wiser at different times depending on our efforts, environment and experiences. We have an urge to add “labels” to everybody, including ourselves, but we must always keep our mind open and receptive and avoid holding prejudices. ?

  2. I have not seen a book that shows how the different planets affect the entire solar system, but I have read a book that shows how the different constellations affect the earth from an astrological perspective. The name of the book is ‘The Witness of the Stars’ by E.W. Bullinger. It’s a quality book that takes some time to read. Here is the link so that you can read it for free – http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/49018

  3. Yeah, it’s the difference between characters that may lead to arguments that end with a separation, not separation on its own, that would be odd. ?
Of course, there are times where explaining feels like “talking to the hand”, the other person must be willing to listen and try to understand. It’s frustrating but it can be a good exercise, it’s almost like talking in front of the mirror. ?

    • It’s been a while, let’s see if I can remember. 😂
I meant “the difference of characters indirectly leads to separation because of arguments, not directly”. I’m quite optimistic and believe different characters/energies can get along if they’re mature enough and are able to avoid heated arguments, or at least stop the fire before it spreads.
