A dog day afternoon is an idiom that means a lazy afternoon or one that is uneventful. Dogs are usually sleepy in the afternoon that it is their habit to just sleep and rest. Just like children who are forced to take a nap in the afternoon, dogs are also needing such a rest from their hectic activities of barking and prowling the surroundings.

For dog lovers, their pet is not just a pet but a part of the family. Like us, we bring our dogs along on vacations whenever possible. But back to the dog day afternoon, a quite life is the best not only for humans but also for dogs. It is contributory to the longevity not only for humans but also for dogs.
