Steam rising from an
iron left on too long
seeking egress to a place
where steam is not belittled or
tormented for
it’s lack of substance.
Tendrils of light
that spread outward to reach
back
do
did
was
can we connect?
Can we find the things that were not there?
The steam
swirling around
fills the room
covering everything
leaving nothing behind.

Wouldn’t it be incredible if we could retrace all the times that we’ve been here before?

Nice – I have to say many years ago my pals and I waited for the Dr. Demento show. We spent hours trying to figure out the best way to record live radio without having to use the speakers (and therefore ambient noise).
couldn’t you just jury rig an output from the radio to an input for your recording device?
I think Existential Blues was my favorite
none of us had one of the new-fangled tape recorders that had audio in. The Microphone was built into the recorder.
Those devices came later.
so then what was your solution?
I ended up getting an integrated stereo for Christmas that had an 8 track, Cassette and LP player all in one. The cassette player could record off the air, so we ended up doing that.
We had a lot of tapes that started with 1/2 songs we liked.
integrated solutions cut out the middle man
I mostly remember good memories. With sad, painful ones, I try to see the silver lining. See, in hindsight, there are pains that serve us well and form our character.
but the lost connection and the tendrils we cannot place can be confusing.
During Christmas or New Year, when the kids are around, we sometimes watched old pictures of our travels on TV screen. To remember the old times and to laugh at the bloopers. I guess, looking back is only good when it serve our well-being. If not, it is best to forget.
plus you created connection between the little ones and the images
