The issue of disappearing posts. First, let me put a huge disclaimer, I do not have more information than I am sharing nor do I have any idea what is going on. The issue is of posts that for a time do not appear in a user’s profile (approved) or in their drafts folder (which happens when they are rejected). I do know that the moderators do reject posts that have anything close to foul language. They also at times will reject images that do not fit the Virily standard. I know the second one because it happened to me three years ago several times. But the issue today is of a post that is submitted, and either never reappears in the drafts folder (in other words rejected) nor in the user’s profile. I know of four authors with this issue. If you also have this issue please let me know in the comments!

Kim pointed out that the authors that post multiple posts a day are mostly filler posts and she ignores them. I do also agree and normally skip those as well. I was more concerned not about authors who post 4, 5, or 6 posts in two days and then have all of them approved by the moderator at the same time. I was more trying to point out that if you consider the moderators read every submitted post, that explains why they get behind during the week.  Having been reading 30 or so posts a day, I can tell you that the ebb and flow on the site is Monday is the single biggest release day. Saturday and Sunday are the lowest post-release day, and then Wednesday is the next lowest post-release day!

Giri asked me why I cared about posts getting to 200 views and the time it took. By way of explaining it, 100 views, and 200 views are easy for me to watch, and I don’t have to watch as many posts as long. The number of posts on the site that get to 500 or more views is very small, and that often takes 30 or more days of that post to be on the site. I am also only tracking views because honestly, that is easy to watch. Comments, and fastest to 10, 20 comments is dependent on the author and time of day they release their posts.

Virily has ebbed and flowed considerably since I joined. One thing I can guarantee, the FAQs for the site no longer apply. There are still many (too man) glitches with the site, and there is virtually no communication from the moderators and the admin team of the site. The good side of Virily, though, and to end with positive, they have, and they continue to pay.

CarolDM is the fastest to 100 views on the site. There are several other users that also move pretty quickly but I think even Carol would tell you that it isn’t happening as fast to 100 as it was 2 months ago.

  2. I think all my old posts are still there, based on the fact that my overall number of posts – currently around 700 – has not decreased.

    As for number of views, there are some odd anomalies. I noticed that one of my old posts (from about 2 years ago) had just struggled to 200 views whereas the one that followed it (possibly written on the same day) had attracted more than 2,000!

    • there are a number of issues with views.
      the issue of old posts is the pictures removed. Did you submit posts with 3, 5 or more pictures? if so go check those. It isn’t the post, it is the pictures.

      as for the views. Yes the problem is old and new you are right. The sight has gone up and down for a long time.

      There are a few authors who get to 200 views in less than 5 days in the past. It now takes 9 or 10.

  3. I am pretty sure I still have all my old and new posts still on Virily. But that is because I only write one to two posts a week. But Dic still a big thanks for pointing this problem out and for trying to take care of it. Maybe you could ask to become an official member on the board of Virily as a freelancer…. Keep up the good work and I will keep on cheering and pitying you at the same time…

  4. I haven’t noticed a problem, but I’m new here! I did notice a problem with an article I was trying to save as a draft. Nothing saved but the photo and I had to start all over with the text. Odd.

    • actually, this one was reported to me by a user. Then verified by another user. It happens occasionally and not always to the same person all the time. an odd error at best!

When I could post again I found two posts in my drafts from the time the troubles began and I added them and it was no problem, I do not know if any of my very old posts have disappeared and perhaps one day I will go through them all just to see what I have on the site. Right now it seems to be all right with what I post but I do get people telling me when I put in a quiz that it does not give the score at the end. I don’t know what that is all about, I post about 5 or 6 posts a day or every other day. I had some stacked up that I was ready to put up but many of them are short posts I put in as polls. You will tell me Doc, won’t you? when I seem to be posting too much. I have had a lot of creativity and inspiration surging through me lately. lol

  7. I haven’t had any similar problems. But it’s true that I only have one post per day. I really think about seeing how many posts some members make. It just doesn’t work out for me (if I want to look and comment on other members’ posts). I currently have about 70 – 100 views, but the higher I doubt I’m coming. ?

  8. I did not notice any posts disappearing. Good you pointed out this issue. Sometimes Virily is able to drive me crazy, when I will lose all patience, I may disappear for a while again.

    • it is not the posts disappearing, it is the pictures connected to old posts that disappear. if you submit 3 or 5 or more pictures with a post, the pictures are stripped off. You get the cover picture and the post but the other pictures are no longer attached. They are still on the site but you have to search for them separately.

  9. You are correct, views are way down and things seem to move more slowly on the site. Too many filler posts, I agree with Kim. But what can you do, just keep moving forward.

You are really amazing, dear friend …. how much effort you put into Virily … as I said, I don’t mind the old posts disappearing … if they need more space, so be it … I don’t know how some can look there are so many posts … I’ve been on Virily for a while and every day I have a hard time making 300 viriles

  11. Hi Doc, thanks for CARING for the site so much. I agree with your views and sentiment above. I cannot find any posts I wrote in my first year at Virily 3 years ago. However, what I really would like, is to be able to update and edit my published posts. How hard is that to do? I have asked admin several times, so this is not an official complaint, I’m merely enquiring as to the complexity and or technicality of adding this feature and why the owners would be so reluctant to do so, thus far.     • i dream of electric sheep, and magical edit buttons that let me change the universe as well!

      for now, i just stopped complaining about that, the admins never responded.

  12. The glitches on the site really worry me. I would be happy to see the site functioning smoothly. Losing posts is a sign that all is still not right with Virily. I hope the figure out the problem and set it right.
