Non-5 petal flower – Ixora

I was walking home when I came across a bush of Ixora … I realised that they’re not 5 petals … I counted twice and am sure they’re only 4 petals!

I remember when we were young, we used to pluck the flower and squeeze the “nectar” from the flower … then we’ll lick it …

Actually till now, I don’t know if those little drops of liquid that comes out are poisonous or not … anyway, none of us died from it :p

A pity I don’t have my macro lens with me … else I can try taking some macro …

    • Haha, better not suck something you didn’t know what it was …
I was young and naive then … I won’t do that now :p

    • Hehe, I just confirmed that it’s ok to suck the “nectar” from the base of the flower BUT you must be sure it’s pesticide-free. You don’t die from drinking the sweet “nectar” but you’ll die from ingesting pesticide. :p

  1. I do not know the flowers so I do not know whether the nectar is toxic or not …. I clicked it … Is it wrong, my friend?
