New Year? New Life?

Even before the twelve chimes announced the end of 2019 did you decide to change your life? Lose weight? Save? Travel more? Whatever it is, you can undoubtedly meet your goals, it’s all a matter of motivation.

However, only 8% of people actually comply with the resolutions made in the New Year. But there are some tips so you don’t give up! Yes, 2020 is the year!

1. Start with small goals – Setting realistic goals increases the likelihood of being successful. Much of the problem with non-compliance with New Year’s resolutions is that these decisions are often totally unrealistic and assume that we can be completely different people from the New Year.It is best to “start small,” and then add difficulties as you meet your initial goal. For example, do you want to start training to run a marathon and have never even run? Start by walking, and slowly begin to increase your pace and stride.

2. Be more concrete – Plan how you will accomplish your goals, don’t be vague. Planning, for example, to go to the gym on Saturday and Wednesday is more effective than simply deciding that you will train more. Specific actions ensure that it goes from intention to practice.

3. The importance of having a support network – Seek support from your friends and family to accomplish something you set out to do, such as eating a healthier diet. When we publicize our projects, the chances of not giving up are greater. When we share our projects, the likelihood of accomplishing them increases exponentially.

4. Align your resolutions with long-term plans – The best resolutions are those that help you achieve an integral part of a long-term goal rather than being vague and abstract goals. If you have never practiced any kind of sport, you will hardly become a great athlete, even if that was your New Year’s decision. Therefore, when choosing a resolution that motivates you, you must simultaneously establish concrete plans to reach it from the first day of the year.
