Nature Tuesday ~ Think before you eat mushrooms

In the autumn, nature offers us, in addition to beautiful colors, various forest fruits. The most popular of these are mushrooms. I’m very distrustful of mushrooms. I don’t know them well, so I don’t get them picking. So I prefer to buy them from experienced mushroom pickers and connoisseurs. The desire for a basket full of mushrooms, which are then smelled in the kitchen, and the lack of experience and knowledge about these forest fruits, obviously cloud the judgment and dispense with the responsibility that gatherers should have all the time. Inattention can quickly turn us into poisoners. Mushrooms are difficult to digest, so people should not eat mushrooms because of their illness.

  1. I also don’t know much about mushrooms, so I prefer to paint them as mushrooms … so much so that I am convinced that this mushroom in the picture is an edible mushroom …. but you ripped those two off?

  2. I don’t know enough about wild mushrooms to trust myself to pick them. I remember – when a teenager – staying with a French family and picking mushrooms in the woods. The father of the family knew his mushrooms very well and would say “bon” or “pas bon” when we wanted to pick a particular one. His judgment was clearly good enough, because we all survived our supper that evening!

  3. I love mushrooms, they are full of proteins and easier to digest than meat. We don’t have mushrooms in the city we need to go to the woods. Nope I only know the cultivated varieties of mushrooms so I never pick them.
