While walking along the Lagoon on a recent trip to Vancouver’s Stanley park, these three raccoons started swimming towards me. I hung around long enough to snap this photo. I heard a commotion behind me and the raccoons had reached the bank. A woman walking her dog had trouble controlling him as he was going straight for the raccoons. In trying to pull him away she almost fell. I guessed the dog scared the raccoons off and the went back into the lagoon. Both dog and owner survived.

Such a cute capture!
Thank you. They were fun to watch from a distance
No We do not have raccoons nor even squirrels here
Lucky you. The squirrels drive me nuts. I am constantly chasing them away from the bird feeders.
We do not have raccoons here nor even squirrels.
We have both but the I have never seen a raccoon in my yard but the squirrels are all over.
I have never seen a raccoon!
I have had just a few glimpses of them in the past but this is the first time I have seen them up close.
I haven’t had a meeting with a raccoon yet. I think I would run away at the meeting.
It was a first for me seeing them that close. I would run too.
Great picture from these little looking thieves. Yes I encountered a few “raton-laveurs” (raccoon in French), once when a mother and babies were thrashing the trash can and again when they were walking through the backyard during late evening and once when a whole family were clinging on the upper portion of a house when they tripped a burglar light. Most of these critters are not aggressive and usually scurry away whenever they see or hear something or someone they do not not want to meet. Again, great shot…
Thank you. This was my actual first face to face meeting with raccoons. I have only caught fleeting glances of them in the past.
Years ago there were a few around my trash can, but they scurried away. Cool photo.
Thanks. I don’t see raccoons in the yard but I have caught fleeting glances of them in the past.
