Today I went to gather fir buds. It is the period when I make syrup every year. It is good to have fir bud syrup at home not only because it is tasty, but also because it has several health benefits. It is recommended in respiratory diseases, including the common colds we all face. A glass of fir bud syrup is also good for digestion, but also if you have kidney disease. For a delicious syrup, buds must be 3-4 centimeters long. (like the ones in the photo). Older buds get too resinous to be very tasty. Be careful! Never pick the top of a young tree, or you can possibly stunt its future growth.
1 kg of fir buds1 kg of sugar2.5 l of waterPROCEDURE- wash the fir buds very well in cold water and drain them well.- boil them in water for about an hour on low heat- cover the pot and leave to infuse until the next day.- the next day we drain the fir buds into another pot, and add the sugar to the liquid and boil it again for a few minutes. Optionally we can add 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice.
