Gardenia jasminoides is a medium sized bush. It has dark green, shiny leaves, the snow white flowers have a strong, sweet fragrance. It is the perfect plant for a fragrant garden or moonlight garden.
These plants need humidity and warmth to flourish. The soil requires to be acidic for it to produce more blooms. When in bloom it fills your garden with a magical fragrance.
This flower is supposed to have been popular with men. French men are supposed to have traditionally worn gardenias as boutonnière when in evening dress. It is also said that the gardenia was Sigmund Freud’s favorite flower. (I wonder what it means)
These flowers stand for purity, love and refinement and are favorite for weddings.
