Ten technology things that if you need one, will help! The one piece that is missing, the network. There was a time many years ago when updating a device was painful. Now with the internet, all you need is access to the internet. The reality of your network connection is now critical to how you operate!
- Tablet, I use mine all the time. They are incredible tools to have in your hands!
- Pico projectors, there are several on the market, Nebula is the one I recommend the most.
- 3d or 360-degree cameras. This is a huge growing area!
- Travis the translator, with their new inexpensive Global Sim you can take translation with you anywhere, and you don’t have to have your phone in your hand.
- NetAtMO and Bloomsky, there is something about knowing the weather where you live!
- Keecker, what can I say, the egg is useful!
- 3d printers – if you are interested the market is exploding and prices are dropping
- Alexa and Google Home. These are great voice activate systems to have and use!
- SiriusXM radio, I’ve been a subscriber to Sirius for more than 15 years. The service is awesome; the quality of the music is beyond amazing!
- Automotive anti-collision systems
The last one is the most interesting overall because anti-collision systems for cars have a huge economic impact, but is likely the slowest adoption rate on this list. New cars (2016 and on) tend to have the systems overall. It is an interesting technology. 3d printers have come down in price a lot in the past year. What once was 2 and even 3 thousand dollar purpose can now be had for less than 700 bucks. The quality of the printer has improved as well.
Each of these technologies has improved this year. The newest release of products in the categories are excellent. Not everyone will hit all ten categories, but I suspect some of you will hit 2 or more.

Will you share in the comments the tech you want me to focus on for the next review?

Yes

No

Try to read all your outstanding tech surveys!!! As for list given, very much interested in automotive anti-collision systems.
The insurance companies have predicted that when we reach the tipping point (roughly 51% of the cars in a market equipped with collision prevention systems) that rear-end collisions (the single largest collision type) will be decreased by more than 60%.
I am fortunate to have followed all of your reviews about those ten things. I have a tablet, and I think 3d or 360-degree cameras other than 3d printers have caught my attention.
Thanks, Albert. Based on this post I feel the warmth of the community! I am honored by all the people who comment they follow my technology reviews!
We really have to appreciate and be grateful for this increased of shared awareness.
That is very true and kudos to you as one of the drivers of kindness.
I am not much of a techy and my grasp of understanding is limited in this area. However, I have to say that advance in tech did make travelling these days much easier. When we first went to Vietnam, ordering rice is like solving a math problem. Today, communication is made easy by translator not to mention Grab and Uber made life easier too even abroad.
I traveled in the days before tech that was useful! I remember having a translator in the days before you could use your phone. Typing the words in and hoping it was a local phrase. Communication was painful.
Well I am glad for those modern app because I would not have survived my solo travel if not for that ???. I have poor navigation skill not to mention I am nearsighted too. But thanks to Google map I can roam places with ease.
There you go! Sometimes the value is in getting us to where we want to go. Sometimes it’s in keeping us in touch with family and friends. Sometimes it is just a place to play Tetris!
Lol! Yeah. Tetris now has so many versions. I do wordgames.
I don’t do word games as much now, I get bored with them.
I will gladly read any review you write, and am already interested in everything you’ve listed except for keecker, because I don’t know what it is. But if it made your list, I expect it is something I would be interested in…
Alex, I am honored by your comment. Thank you for the confidence!
You’ve earned it. I checked out Keecker, it looks pretty cool
It is the coolest media device I’ve played with so far.
now if we can only get it to record and play back holograms…
It has a 360 camera on top, so the first thing (although it can’t be a 360-degree camera because it sits on top of a rolling egg).
Hologram generation only requires input (camera) and output (projector) so perhaps that is on the slate for future releases.
but a hologram input needs to come from multiple sources at the same time. so much for R2D2
The input or the output?
Output (the hologram) simply needs a projector capable of projecting to a point in space,
The input, as you stated has to come from three-dimensional sources. The three input sources convey the front, and one side, the front and the side and of course the 3rd aspect, the rear.
But output is easier. Input, hard!
of course R2 can play the hologram, but how does he record it?
Honestly, I would say two, 180-degree cameras mounted on the side of R2. That would allow for the dimensionality. Then an algorithm that fills in the missing pieces.
fair enough, he does seem to have no end of telescoping arms coming out of all those panels…
I love reading your reviews and I kind of keep track of this stuff but I am very “under-teched” which keeps me surprised at the present. I can’t think of something to suggest so I look forward to the next review!
Thank you, Howard, I am touched by your kind words! My wife is by her own admission under teched as well. She says “that is your job.” and points at me!
I did just hear about the first 1 Terabyte SD Card. I’ve been shooting some little art films for fun and I’ve been going through cards. It is nice to be back.
Glad you are back! Terabyte cards I haven’t seen. I will have to check that out.
I would like to have Travis translator and 3D printer. Maybe my wish come true
Both are really useful tools, I hope your wish comes true as well.
I’ll decide what I need more right now and I will buy it first
That is a wise way to move forward!
I would like to get one of them Google home Alexa things. They are really good.
I can tell you that they are both amazing. I got one from work (we signed a huge deal with Google recently). I doubt I would have paid for two, but now I can’t decide which one I like more.
you still have 1O months to be a good boy so Santa will grant your Christmas wish.
haha
Thanks for the input – which technology would you like me to cover!
hmm… ok. .. phone maybe since most of the people here are using smart phones
fair, phone is something I love covering the future tech of!
good for sure people will appreciate that, also like affordable but functional and quality.
you know practical. we can’t assume that people here can afford, you know why most of us have extra jobs like this.
I suspect it is the same everywhere. Things seem to cost more and more.
of course, but you know most people here might need help when it comes to affordable technology.
I completely agree. the problem we have is there are far too many people that really don’t have a chance to have the newest tech.
yes, another is the cheap laptop for use, you know some people don’t need hi-end laptop… that can do all magic, some people just need functional ones. so this is also a good topic
my suggestion… lol now you know where i am coming from haha
When you are considering a cheap but effective laptop, the Google Chromebooks can’t be beat!
good… it is okay for me now, i have a new laptop. i told you.
