Winter is beautiful and bitterly cold. Right now my soul feels winter. We are waiting for the phone call that our dear friend is leaving this world. They are keeping him medicated to dull the pain and he said he is almost ready to leave. He said his goodbyes to us yesterday. He has had a great life and what I should feel is happy for his soul to be able to get out of that sick, tired, worn body. I believe that and I don’t “feel” that yet. Hopefully that will come soon.
There are many things I love about winter. Without that cold and deadly season, there would not be the miracle of spring. Perhaps the funeral will be the miracle of spring. He is surrounded my friends and family and he is still yelling and tormenting them. Yesterday I saw no fear in his eyes. It’s gone.
My soul feels winter.
