My Happy List – Piglet

This is a photo of Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. Piglet was always the bear’s best friend. In my memories, I can happily say that the best memory is that I was always kind of sloppy and getting food on me when eating and cooking. So my late husband gave me the nickname of Piglet or Ruksis in Latvian. All the years we were together I was Ruksis to him and it was very rare that he used my real name. One birthday I knew that the McDonald’s in the city was offering kid meals with Winnie the Pooh toys. Even though we rarely spent money on things that we did not really need my husband told me that since it was my birthday to go into the city and to get myself a Happy Meal with Piglet. It was a sure sign of love and understanding and to never stop believing in the things that are important to me. This gesture from him came from the heart because he knew that I always kept the child alive in my heart and I also loved collecting everything that had to do with pigs. When he passed on I was the first to say that I as Ruksis had died along with him and I would never want to be reminded again but now I think the most important thing is to always hold onto our dreams and to never stop believing and always keep the child inside of us alive. So I am back to collecting everything to do with pigs and remembering and hearing in my mind him calling me Ruksis.
